Brilliant! I had the great privilege of touring with Caravan as lighting designer about 45 years ago. Overwhelming musicianship, beautiful people. Such a thrill to see them them all. We've all got less hair but the same lust for life. God bless you Maurice, a true treasure x
@clivestandley25755 ай бұрын
@TomThatcher1 Well, those were hazy days back then but Maurice was the "kind of" tour manager a good, cheerful and funny friend to everyone. He wrote a great song which Caravan played.

I'm not sure how this is possible, I bought the Land Of The Grey and Pink Album in 1970 and a little while Caravan performed in the town I was living in, great band, that was 52 years ago yet I'm still only 35....wow that was some aceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeed :) Far Out Man! Nine Feet Underground (Live) Caravan Look at the day that is dawning, what do you see with your eyes? Think of me now while you're yawning, sunshine the tears from my cries What I see I know is real, what I touch I know I feel If I don't care for what you say, it won't mean much to me today For I see your world that is living, my mind is yours, yours is mine Don't talk to me bout forgiving, so much to do, no more time All my love goes straight to you with just a thought for something new All I have is what you feel with hands in mouth, you gently kneel What I see I know is real, what I touch I know I feel All my love goes straight to you, all my love is you There's a place where I can go, where I listen to the wind singing Songs of happiness I know, and it brings it all back again Somewhere deep inside of me, there's a song that I can sing Jigsaw puzzles on a tree, and it brings it all back again Will the day be warm and bright, or will it snow? There are people waiting here who really want to know And sometimes I think of wine, songs and laughter flowing free People talking all the time, and it brings it all back to me Will the day be warm and bright, or will it snow? There are people waiting now who really have to know Can't you feel it in the air? I wonder what it's meant to be Its the thought that can't' be spared, and it brings it all back to me Yes it brings it all back to me

I "Love" this track from 'In The Land Of Grey and Pink', and remember very clearly when they play this at The Reading Festival in 1975...And even now with the necessary changes in the line-up, they still play it beautifully, but sadly the vocals let it down, maybe they could get in a vocalist just for the live gigs? Still wonderful to hear it LIVE after all these years.

Some friends turned me onto Caravan in fall, 1974. I saw the band open for Wishbone Ash November, 1974 Cunning Stunts tour Wishbone Ash: " There's the Rub" My second Caravan show wasn’t until 2002 at that year's Nearfest, held in Trenton at Patriots theater . This is such a monumental work! I don't know where to start, or where to end. I could listen to this at least once a day, and never, ever tire of listening. So creative, and so fresh. Okay, so I'm an old guy, but this medley really lights my fire. It's a pity that I visited Canterbury for one night in 1991, and didn't think to visit haunts of "the Canterbury scene".

Fuck, this is awesome. Musical masters. I cant tell you how many times I have seen them live. Oh go on then I will, 100's. Seriously. Every member is stunningly brilliant! .I love every member, but highlight the drummer, Geoff Richardson and Pye ( I cant quite get those high notes anymore ) Hastings. One of many places I have seen Caravan was at The Catacombs, Wolverhampton. Rammed, totally rammed with fans. Smoke, Ale and the sound of Caravan. I hate the saying "better than sex"............But, jeeeez they were! Why oh why did the not get much greater recognition?
@Pedro2706 Жыл бұрын
Excellent-what a great comment-this is timelessly beautiful music and I've always maintained way too short at 18 minutes!!Used to see them back in the 1970's at University in London and they were first class-started catching them again in the last 10 years on their sporadic tours and never been disappointed-as you say,Pye 's voice has gone but hey-better than dropping it to a different key i reckon.The star for me is Geoff Richardson-multi instrumentalist par excellence and a great front man-I could listen to him solo on the violin/viola all night-consummately lyrical and musical his soloing on the live versions of Nightmare always reduce me to a state of near tears.
