I just picked one of these up this morning with a 20" bar and I'm excited since I didn't know it can take such a big bar! Hope I can get it running, it will be my "new" biggest saw!

My dad still has my grandfathers McCulloch 850 with the 2 foot rail, I've used it once and O My God talk about a beast of a saw. All the old saws run good

Syyenergy7, I just want to thank you for your video! I have my father's Mac Pro 610 from the 80's and that sucker kicked butt up in the mountains of New Mexico last weekend!! I tell you what, there's nothing like the sound of a McCulloch!! It has one heck of a unique roar!! Love the saw and I sure appreciate your video as I'm about to rebuild the carb on another saw I purchased for $50.

hi I found one of these in my grandpas garage and he said he bought his in 81 he used it many years and then has sat in the garage for about 10 years or longer so I took it out put gas in and started right up but need a carb rebuild done soon mine in the pro mac 610 and man is it loud thanks for the vid

Hi from Oamaru south island New Zealand. Yeah 610 pro mac was my first dream saw, beautiful sound. Hey with electric saws make sure to use air gun and blow reverse till dust comes out of intakes in motor. Makita electric saws are cool too if you already have have their batteries.

The hardest part might be adjusting the carb after the rebuild. Those mixture screws make a big difference in how it runs. This saw is dialed in very good now and runs great :)

That was interesting! My brother has a McCulloch 14 inch from the late 70s. It's still running but needs some work. Thank's for the vid.
@syyenergy711 жыл бұрын
I think it was backed out about 1 full turn. I then adjusted it from there while it was running. This saw is a real beast. I like it.

You said your Mccullough was from the 80s? I bought my Mccullough around 99 /2000. Was surprised how little changed in design. As you broke yours down it look nearly identical to mine...
@syyenergy711 жыл бұрын
They were not turned out much at all on my saw. I think less than one full turn. I juts adjusted it until it idled good and had good power under load. It didn't take long. They were way off when I first started it up. Rus great now.

And i have also colled the (dichting) between the caburator and the cylinder. greetings Leon

Camera needs to be on the carburetor when showing were the parts go. Didn't finish putting it together. The video needs to be overhauled.

Great instructive video! just did mine, but i'm strugling with the choke plate, that get's too stuck when tightning the top 2 screws on top of the carb. I guess they must be tight to give no leaks between the carb and the lower mounting plate, but when too tight, the choke wont move. Any suggestions would be helpfull. Thx

I just thought of this, when you buy carb rebuild kit or fuel line buy 2. Put second one in the chainsaw case for that day when you find out nobody sells kits for your old saw anymore.

Great video! I have the same saw and am having a problem with the starting cord. It appears that a it requires a special non-standard replacement cord. I've purchaces a replacement cord from home depot and Its diameter is too small, causing the cord to bind on it self in the cord reel. Do you know where I could get a new cord?

A rebuild is cheap, but takes some attention to detail. The adjustments don't really change unless you have dirt or gunk. Probably better to take it apart and clean it up like new.

Coconut can sometimes be very effective against type 1 also. Don't tell a doctor that. They may lose money. For real many times type 1 is controlled with coconut oil and also other good oils.
@syyenergy711 жыл бұрын
I went on ebay and used a vendor with a 100% good feedback rating.
@syyenergy712 жыл бұрын
coconut is the most effective. Any good oil that can be used as a ready energy source helps because it does not influence insulin levels.

The McCullough has a chain brake. That thing is powerful. If a person needed wood for heating a home, that would be the saw to use.

thought i'd let u know, syy, that my gf just got back from dr. w/ a diagnoses of type 1 diabetes for her 15 yo son. i told her that i just saw something on utube about that. couple min's later i remembered your vid about long-term food storage when u talked about coconut oil. any more info about type 1 would be greatly appreciated.

pls be very careful w/ chainsaw, i'm sure YOU know, syy. making sure that chain is not too worn, well lubed and not too lose/not too tight. i had a friend rip up his arm w/ a broken chain. great info. thx.

I Have a Mccolloch Pro Mac 3505 av-16 what is doing is dumping to much fuel and causing it not to start again do I need to rebuild it or do minor adjustments on the carb on the throttle?
@SilverFalcon46012 жыл бұрын
also, i'm not sure how old t/ saw was that my friend was using, or whether it had a chain brake or not.

Do you know about the adjustments on the mixture screws. I have two 610's. One carb is a walbro hdb leaks fuel through the screw on the intake side probably needs a rebuild. the other carb is a zarma low speed is about one turn. Idle is about right high is completely shut off. Got it to idle fine but the moment you open the high speed 1/8 turn or more floods and cuts so I am thinking rebuild also.

How do I clean the oil line (what lubicates the saw)??
@brianperkins61216 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the bar oiler ? which has a diaphragm pump as well as a manual oiler override , its a problematic unit some people have luck dumping out the bar oil and cleaning the system with kerosene "but" I had to rebuild the oiler pump on ours to get the automatic oiler to function.

+syyenergy7 Dear sir, do you have any idea how many turns out that the factory set the high and low speed screws at on one of these ??? Also, has your recoil starter ever given you problems ??? Mine is basically the same model, its a timber bear 3.4. Slightly smaller engine, but the same basic saw. I bought it new, and have had nothing but trouble with the recoil from day one, more than 20 years ago. I just ordered a used 610 recoil from Ebay this morning, in hopes that this one will be much better. I'm also going to order a recoil spring for my old one because I'm pretty sure that the original spring is fatigued and is the reason for my troubles. I'm also going to order a carb kit, because mine acted as though it was flooding when I had it running a couple weeks ago. Thanks to you, I found out which kit to order for my Walbro HDB carb !!!!! The screws have been fiddled with over the years and I would like to return them to their original settings and go from there. Any info is much appreciated !!!!!!!

+500erider I forgot what I did on the turns. Probably a couple turns like on cars. The things does idle fine, run fine and have power. I never had a problem with me recoil starter. If It did I would use PB Blaster because I bet it would be some corrosion vs parts.

I"m going to have to try that as well. This timber bear was running last year when I serviced it and now fuel refuses to go into the carb even after a good cleaning. I did manage to fins the correct fuel line as well locally along with a new filter as well. not having much success on the on and off blade toggle switch. I thought I had found a switch made by stens, but the blade was bigger and facing the wrong direction and touching the head.

Are you the original owner of that chainsaw? Do you have the sparkplug wrench, carrying case or the sheath that slides over the bar and chain?

+Brian Mott I'm the original owner, but I don't have that other stuff.
@brianmott7289 жыл бұрын
+syyenergy7 Did you have to by the carrying case and sheath seperately if you wanted that stuff? I'd like to see the hardware that holds the starter rope pulley in place since I know someone who does not have the correct hardware for it.

+Brian Mott I guess, it didn't come with the saw.
