Man, you keep taking me down memory lane with these videos. My dad was very hard of hearing, but he could tell that his power saw needed tuning even when I was running it. He would tap me on the shoulder while he held his little screwdriver that he just took out of his pocket and I would cut while he adjusted it. As you all know it is sometimes hard to get onto that screw and he'd yell "hold-r-still." Oh boy, they were the good old days. Thank you very much Buckin' for these wonderful videos.

I’m new here. From San Antonio, Texas. I enjoy your happy go lucky attitude to life and you also know a BOATLOAD about saws! 😂 Picked up a 1960’s McCulloch 250 because I love older American made things. I don’t know much about saws but I’m willing to learn at my 55yo age. Thanks again for you knowledge. God bless you and everyone here.

Newer sub, self employed in the tree work business in central Pennsylvania. 1st comment ever on youtube (like to keep to myself) but what you said about having someone to go to for help really got me going!! Thanks I woke up little ole McCulloch myself restored everything (rebuilt carb new ignition cleaned it up to look almost like new) now I finally got it to turn over after a lot of cursing and patience. A wee beast it is now just have to tune the carb and she is done… I taught myself the hard way to not lean it out too much and detonate it after all that work.. The sound is wicked for a little 38cc top handle. But the way of the world if we can’t pull start it in 3 pulls everyone is headed to replace it with battery power but hearing that 2 cycle screams is still music to my ears thou… thanks for the tips it’s much appreciated..

Loving the videos. Im a fitter & turner but have been playing with old saws (as i like mucking around with old things) i have a collection of Mcculloch's, Pioneers, Homelites, and a couple of Canadien's, all old and most of them go, never been offically taught just figured it all out. But watching these videos is just awesome, suffering a bit of information overload but getting keen to pull some saws back off the shelf and apply some new ideas etc. Most went on the shelf because they were becoming more of a burden than a pleasure to run.

Got an old Timber Bear 60cc Cutting Red and White oak around clemson sc. People look at me like im crazy heating my house with wood. Much love for your channel and info
@LBLUME07224 жыл бұрын
kvnkne You probably already know this, but the Mcculloch PM 610 is basically the same saw just a little older and the cylinder bore/piston is slightly different. What I’m getting at is if you need parts for yours you can pick up a PM 610 or a Timber Bear, you don’t have to limit yourself to finding a saw exactly like yours. I’ve found that the Timber Bear is harder to find and the recoil assembly is the weakest part on both saws. I love these old saws and want to see them continue to be used, so I try to help others do the same to the best of my abilities. Have a good one.

Wow...that´s a nice power saw...runs smooth too... Showed my neighbor and good friend how I file a chainsaw chain..he has never learnt how to, just bought new ones as they got dull. 6 chains were hanging in his garage, almost not used. Sharpened all, hit the rakers and the guy tried one out..man o man was he happy! Showed him the "boat" and how to get out the gullet. Don´t think he will buy new chains for a while...great technique Billy! Got an old 064 ( I think it is) he didn´t use anymore for the job..works great..

So yesterday I'm driving down my street and I see a BBQ pit sitting there for throwaway. Then I look down and see a black McCulloch chainsaw case sitting there, so I hit the brakes. I get out and open it, and there sits a Pro Mac "McCulloch Motors" Special Edition 3505AV-16. Not quite the beast that yours is in this video. But a nice find. I'll take it! It actually looks barely used except for the bar. But today I pour out the old gas, and fill it with some VP Fix-it-Fuel with Mechanic in a Bottle. First thing I noticed was no fuel into the primer bulb after pumping it. So I crank it anyway and on the 2nd pull it starts! But...............I then notice the clutch is engaged at idle.....not good.....but it revs up and sounds pretty good......but......then I try to prime it and the bulb got fuel.....but.....then the engine died. So I guess it's flooding???? Well, I've fixed my mowers, so here is another project. If anybody has any suggestions or comments, I welcome it.

Hey Billy Ray, lucked into a heavy McCullough chainsaw that says, "Factory Reconditioned" where the model would be. It was on the shelf of a local pawn shop for over a year. Was priced at $249.99 but they let me take it for $85 cash. Wouldn't crank or they couldn't greet it to crank so As-Is. I took it home, dumped the old gas and put in some 50:1 and 2 pulls she fired up. Cut some down trees and limbs about and hour. Awesome saw but it's large and kinda heavy. I like it so I guess I'll have to grt I the gym. I tried to add a pic here but won't let me. It's square shaped. Chain brake, ,rubber coated handle, has a blue choke on the back right and a green I'm guessing primer on the back left. Pull string on left side in front of the gas cap. Oil cap in front right side. Yellow and black in color.

I listen for my saws to four cycle, but just slightly. At WFO I want my saws to just start to break up ever so slightly. I also watch them with my tech and try to keep the rpm under 13,000 if I can. My saws are all Stihl and I have big ones and little ones. My favorite is y ms 271, even though it is one of my medium size saws. My bang around saws my ms180C and my MS-241CM. Good advice on chains. I hand file, too, and do it by the book. I check the rakers by eye. If they are below the top of the cutters by about spark plug gap - I leave them alone by if they are close to the top of the cutters - I give them all a few licks with the flat file.

My new husky has autotune, so far, I N C R E D I B L E! I dont even have to adjust high low, I can literally hear the saw pick up rpm. I bought during cold temps about 10*F, grabbed a handful and heaved it into a chunk, it was slow and bogged for 2 bucks of the log then while cutting the 3rd it picked up 800 rpm and tore the rest the way through. I'm sold. used it once in the summer for a tree the neighbors needed down and it did the same. when i use it steadily during the week she runs great. I know buckin likes the old but some of this new tech is great.

They have a goofy starting procedure that the "older fellas" have a hard time getting used to. It is a picky starter for sure. Choke on to fire it till she coughs, then move the switch off choke, then back on to choke, then off to where the saw will just run, that puts her in high idle. 3 pulls for my saw, gonna start hand filing a chain to see if I can get a difference between grinding chain and filin. Its all in the filin!

Good demonstration on dialing in the carb.The high rpm sounded perfect when you adjusted it at the 2min.52sec. mark.

Buckin! You wild man! Thank you so much for the knowledge. I’m new to power saw game ( I say chainsaw, no big deal hehe) and have been practicing up on my neighbors hill where there is a flat that was over grown, anyway, it’s completely clean now. So my neighbor (Ralph) asked what got into me? I said I’ve been watching ol Buckin billy Ray. He paused as I explained who you are, then he told me to tell you thanks. So Thank you! Lol #getthegulit

Welcome new subscribers! Rewatching this video.! Got a 1-70 coming and was hoping for some reminders on tuning. That saw has a 3rd port induction so I am trying to find some info on that saw.

I fucking love you. Just bought a cheap saw and it was rly out of tune. Would turn itself of after cutting a piece and literally the sec I release the throttle it shuts off. This video helps a lot, because it's actually the sound that I'm looking for, in reference to how it acts. Great.
