I am SERIOUSLY IMPRESSED! I would LOVE to have that sub-box!! (and the router table too!!!) ... (oh yea.. and a car too LOL) - I do have a JL W3 that needs to have the surround replaced, and traditional carpeted bandpass box but after seeing this video and how you were able to get 35hz all the up to over 120db with only 200watts (!!!!) started to think is it would be possible to create an 'insert' that I could install into the bandpass box (im not sure about which order it is... it's just got the sealed front have of the sub and a rectangle opening with 1 board making it a port of sorts) ... I don't have any 'god-level' tools like a router-table or 3D printers but I do have all the right tools to do it all the 'traditional way' BUT I think it would be much more interesting to modify the box I already have than to start from scratch.....BUT I would have to take apart the box to put the 'guts' inside and I think the MDF was already starting to crumble when I pulled the sub to inspect it (a friend gave it all to me like 5 years ago and aside from that initial check I haven't touched it since) - I'm just wondering if it's even worth all the hassle... it's a lot of effort to put into a box that I not only don't have an AMP to power it but I don't even have a vehicle to put it in LOL - I guess I'm just daydreaming because of all the inspiration I get every time I watch your new videos LOL :)

An 8 inch sub playing that flat that low is nothing short of incredible. I was going to say the SPL output isn't that impressive until one considers useable bandwidth. Then i went back and realized it was an 8inch. I'm amazed. And at the same time ashamed because all I can do is throw together an 18 inch bassreflex that doesn't doesn't play as good or low as this does. Sure, i might have more output but my box is 3 times the size and i'm sending 5-6 times the effective voltage to it. I i tried playing 20Hz like pete just casually did, my cone would probably become the next Chinese weatherbaloon. As always, perfect video pete, thank you!

Awesome video, love the build! For fun, to piggy back onto this build in a future video, you could integrate a pair of midbass boxes, like a pair of 8" efficient drivers in sealed and stuffed boxes, especially with DSP for EQ, time, and phase alignment. As you know, it would really light up the upper bass area, 50- 120hz or so, where kick drums and floor toms really shine! We all love that visceral kick : ) To make it more awesome yet, add folded horns to the front of the 8" dual midbass boxes for better matching acoustic impedance, and way more output, making them efficient enough for another compact class D amp to be plenty of power. Could be another fun project on the router!! : ) I'm drawing up a front loaded horn design for a pair of 12" subs in the cargo area of our family suburban, I just need to find the time to build it. I'm really impressed with the killer deep bass you're getting with that awesome build! Thanks for sharing.

When you mentioned the oval holes, it reminded me of my Carve Wright. If you told it to cut a hole, it would be an oval, but if you told it to drill a hole 3" in diameter, it would be perfect. Kind of important when cutting out arcade control panels. Of course, this is around 15 years ago.

Well, that sure gave my poor little Klipsch ProMedia subwoofer with it's Dayton Audio 5.5" replacement woofer a workout. The amount of air it was moving out of the port was amazing. Even more amazing was how much of the lower octaves it was actually able to reproduce. And the subwoofer in this video is certainly impressive. Too bad I don't have a CNC router to make something like it.
