Carbs are good, fat bad! No, fat good, carbs bad! Fat makes you fat, no carbs make you fat!
It's infuriating and ultra confusing.
I wanted to do my part to clarify and clear a few things up. If you stick with me for this ~20 min I promise you'll know more about fat, carbs, weight loss, sugar, starch, glucose, blood sugar, and how to optimize fat loss than any of your friends. MONEY BACK GUARANTEE!

@@drandygalpin Andy, you mentioned in Joe Rogan show that you gave 200g carbs to an athlete in the form of vegetable juice to help her recover her health... what was the veggie juice recipe and how much vegg juice was given to her per day? was the juice drank on empty stomach? Can you please detail ? Thank you

Found your channel after JRE and I've been through 2 videos so far, they're so informative and remind me why I'm in school to major in Physiology and minor in Kinesiology. To be able to hopefully inform and help not only athletes but anyone interested and have the capability to hopefully point them in the right direction according to what their goals are, it's an exciting and interesting thing to me. Keep up the good work man!

Bought your book and will read soon! I hold a degree in Kinesiology from UMass Amherst, but admittedly respect your point of view at this point above mine. I agree with all that you are saying, but I would like you to expand more on what is currently happening to most people where they are consuming too many simple carbohydrates and how metabolically this can create disease. There seems to be a fairly straight forward understanding of why one would want to get themselves into ketosis far more often than they typically do now and so it feels a little counterproductive that you are recommending "do whatever diet you like." I think with top of the line athletes, sure, go nuts because they're going to burn it all anyway, but for the average employee, your message would be a little more helpful if you explained how chronic insulin and blood sugar spikes in the body create inflammation and cause disease. Unless you disagree with that and I need to be schooled more. Again, a big fan. Just hopefully giving a little constructive feedback. I just drove across the US, our nation is primarily OBESE and not very active or athletic, lol. Other questions: how does fat accumulation happen on a ketogenic diet, or can it? what happens to excess fat consumed? Superior athletes aside, the human being evolved more likely to be in ketosis more often than not in a world without a supermarket 100,000 years ago, so why label fat as a 'backup' system? It was probably primary for at least half the time as we evolved, though I wasn't around to know that for sure of course but I think It would be better to utilize fat beyond a backup system for health purposes to stay in line with what's likely our evolved biology. Thanks!

If you think about it, humans have always been omnivores. Therefore I would imagine that they used both forms of fuel even 100,000 years ago.

Could you point to some research/articles that explain the mechanism of "chronic insulin and blood sugar spikes in the body create inflammation and cause disease"? I've been trying to answer this question: What exactly (physiologically/mechanically) causes insulin resistance in the long-term when consuming high-GI food?

Great video Andy - as always. Just a note I was somewhat confused about you mentioned at 18:40-18:50 mark that muscle glycogen following high intensity exercise would be used. I understand this but then under normal conditions you mentioned the break down fat to replace muscle glycogen? I thought this was a very small/negligible pathway that made very litter difference relative to actual consumption of more CHO rich foods? Can you please clarify this point for us? Thank you for all your work.

Thanks a lot for this great content, it really helps. How do you feel about the so called zero carb diet? It's basically animal products only, for some even just meat - supposedly, it removes the need for certain vitamins and fiber, which would make that a non-issue. I'm looking into it because of people getting good results with depression (ie. Mikhaila Peterson, Amber O'Hearn), but I'd be happy to hear what a knowledgeable person like yourself would say about such a thing.
