My wife and I visited in 1993. Great castle fortress. 2 full days of exploring, both the 'cite' and the rest of the entire town.

Eines der schönsten Kultuurdenkmale der Welt. Prosper Merrimée hat sich besonders um die Cité verdient gemacht, indem er der Plünderung der Wallanlagen Einhalt gebot. So schön alles ist, so muss ich doch auch immer an das traurige Schicksal der Katharer denken, die sehr mit Carcassonne verbunden waren. 1980 war ich zum ersten Mal dort gewesen und mir war klar, dass ich unbedingt wiederkommen wollte. 1999 war ich zum zweiten Mal da, und wieder, wie beim ersten Mal, um Ostern.
