Hey i just found your videos and subscribed, you have been very helpful to me in these videos. I found RE1 harder than RE2. I wasn't going for a WR but just to get the cheats. I think this game had tougher enemies and bosses and chris's storage capacity make it difficult. I wasn't going for a knife only so sometimes had to use the storage boxes to switch between the knife and other items. One thing that threw me off was using the knife for the boss spider. I'm playing the us version and the auto aim is enabled so had to use the flamethrower on him, i didn't even attempt to knife the tyrant but it took just as many handgun bullets. My total time for a 1st attempt was 1:34 and 0 saves.......well i was using my raspberry pi so saved alot along the way.

The DS version allows you to skip most cutscenes, including the door screens. The 180 turn, knife button, and tactical reload from 3 and 4 are also implemented. Rebirth Mode compensates for the above with Knife Battles and changed item/enemy placements.

I am a huge fan of speedrunning and the skill involved. Just my patience wouldn't last. I only ever speedran revelations 2 cause they were short chapters but for an hour+ run i would hate to get like 40 minutes in and screw up only to start again. :/ Gotta say though, very impressive man!! keep up the great work.

Yawn has one of those kill triggers on danger. Any attack causes Chris to stop in place and shudder and if it hits you get swallowed whole.

I realize that you have to get the bad ending for a knife only, but I still feel like you could argue it's a knife only run except at that one moment the game refuses to allow it and that's the exception. Like in RE 4 when you get to Salazar and don't use glitches or anything. Gotta use the un-upgraded starting pistol to maintain "credibility."

I just finished my first ever run of this game yesterday (as Jill) and thinking about seeing how far I can get with just the knife as Chris. Really appreciate you explaining how these dodges work, though I'll probably lean on pause cancel pretty often as a beginner

Also more generally I appreciate you recording these runs and uploading the no-commentary versions as well. Sometimes I just want to see the gameplay without all the explanations no matter how much I like a runner, but very few people actually offer that. Which I get, most of these runs are done on-stream and are VOD uploads so there's not much to work around that, but it's still nice when someone goes the extra mile.

Yeah, the commentary does mask certain audio cues, which is why I have the non-commentated version. Also yeah the atmosphere of a gameplay video just playing is completely different.

@@CarcinogenSDA Cool. Would be interesting to see how you kill Plant 42 on Chris Arranged going for the good ending. Can't remember but I think I had to kill it twice with the knife and it attacks you a little or a lot at random where I either used 1 mixed herb or LOTS of mixed herbs to the point where it's slower to collect the mixed herbs and only use the knife, not swapping the broken shotgun for the shotgun than it is to get the shotgun and use that instead. Yet when you only have to kill Plant 42 once with a weapon and you use the knife, you only use 1 mixed herb at the most every time (don't know why) and it's just as fast as using the shotgun.

Could you explain kill trigger more elaborately for me? I feel u don't understand. You can't die even if you get hit at 0 hp unless it's like a grab attack? That's so odd. So if that's the case you should never heal?

Can you explain here how to treat the first 2 zombies you meet in the statue room? I mean consistently and without damage. I practiced a bit with the technique but does not work 100% of the time, less than 50% maybe actually, mainly because sometimes the zombie hides behind the statue no matter what I do and obviously I can't kill it there because otherwise the statue won't move.

you have to aggro him a little with a slash. also, note that before they fall the first time (if they don't die), zombies will always rotate toward the center of your hitbox. it's tough, but knowing the ai should increase ur chances

thank you, your runs are always very informative. I'm trying to record a complete run of the mansion section with Chris knife only and no damage. I can do every part pretty consistently but it's difficult to get right every one of them in a row.

I won't say "it's impossible", but with RNG on Plant 42 and Yawn's ridiculous hit detection, all I can say is "good luck". You could probably try with Pause Cancelling.

Yeah of course Plant 42 and Yawn are almost impossible to get no damage with knife. But I mean only first Mansion section (getting the 4 crests and getting out) wich is also not easy for a beginner :)

Does pause canceling automatically qualify a run as glitched? If so, I'm completely against that notion. It's even so easy to do that you can do it completely by accident.
