CarcinogenSDA any realistic estimate on how much of a difference the Japanese version is time wise? I’m at 1:05:55 on GC, 1:15:45 on PS1, both American version. Noticed many if not all of the top times on both versions are run on Japanese version. Just trying to see where I stand. Thanks man

go to speedrun.com and submit full videos make sure you submit to the right leaderboard. they separate by platform and whether it’s on emulator or not

The Japanese version is probably 1 minute faster at most. Nobody’s actually done the calculations.

When I was a kid I played the shit out of the Dual Shock version of this game, it birthed my love for the Resident evil franchise and horror as a whole. My best time as I replayed the game over and over and over was I believe somewhere around the 2 hour mark. I can't wait for a remake of this.

I love this game as well. When I was a kid, i was too scared to even just opening the door after watching licker crawling over the window😂 I bet you know how I felt back then. And I just beat it on psx for 1:18:10 in game time. My fastest speedrun on pc is just an hour plus 1 minute.

17:11 What I would like see in RE games is the amount of HP you have and the amount of damage taken in bites or attacks even if its in a menu record not necessarily on screen that would be good to track your HP and damage count.

Serious question: Knowing that you tied the WR, down to the second.. when you commentated this run and noted at certain points where you lost a second here or a second there, does that give you the itch to try it again just to get those seconds back?

Not really. I would rather get a better run on Gamecube or PC. If I have WRs on all PS1 categories, there's not much reason for me to try for a better run when I could be trying for a better run in a category that really matters. You might ask "well why didn't you just play PC or Gamecube instead", and the answer is because I didn't want to feel demotivated trying to improve my actual speedrun practice while other people are racing in circles around me. You have to find a place to stop that is "good enough" before you quit having fun. I don't care much about getting WR, just getting a decent time where I can notice a substantial improvement in my skills overall, and push myself harder maybe a year or two down the line. I've spent 13 years speedrunning games (which I can't just casually mention in every speedrun video I make without sounding like a conceited asshole), and being "perfect" is a chump's game. Pushing yourself beyond simply getting WR is an endeavor that is only fun until it isn't, and I don't need WRs to make a living.

I totally understand not wanting to cross that line where a game you enjoy becomes no longer fun, and I could definitely see that happening if one spends too much time trying to get the "perfect run". I discovered the RE speedrunning community fairly recently, when I saw your RE7 run at GDQ last year. That led me to really discovering Twitch (I realize I'm like...years late) and you becoming my first sub on that platform. That being said, I really appreciate that despite how busy you must be between streaming, speedrunning, and just life in general, you still always take the time to answer questions like this and interact with your fans and subscribers. I'm happy to support someone as awesome as you. :)

hold R1 and x then spam the R1 atleast 2 consecutive quick press then do it repeatedly after the rapid shot it will continue firing quickly. that's what Im doing

Richard Tipton I want to say he explains that in this video (as well as the zombie placements being different), but it's tough for me to explain as I don't do it. But basically from what I understand, the second the shot is fired, you release and then rehold R1 and you cancel the recoil animation and fire again.

Kelvin Griffiths your timer was probably bugged. that time is not achievable on ps1. many people claim to have had this. my immediate guess is some kind of memory corruption.
