@@Peacetoself I have had 2 G-wagons (2008 & 2017) and honestly never had anyone say anything negative. People would always come up to talk about them at cars & coffee or when I was at the gas station, out of town etc. People like them although they do know they are expensive. But the avg person doesn’t know if one is a 2003 with 140k Miles that is worth $30,000 or a 2018 worth $95,000. Obviously car people can tell the newer from the older. In larger cities (Chicago, Indy, Nashville) you see more of them, not a lot but a couple a day. Where I live you may see one once every couple of weeks. And we have a 250,000 population.

@@bebin73 I just purchased a 2020 g550 and I live in cleveland where you dont see that many high end cars. I agree a bunch of people complement me and it definitely is a head turner but I wont dare drive it to work. My employees would feel a certain way. A couple of years ago I purchased an audi s6 that I drove to work. Coincidence or not I had employees ask for raises and some even quit. Now I drive a 07 bmw 530 as a daily and keep the g wagon for date nites etc. Some cities you can pull it off but cleveland is too blue collar for daily driving a new g wagon

@@Peacetoself see I wouldn’t think that with Cleveland being so large. I live in southern Indiana and people don’t say too much. They know doctors, attorneys, business owners etc have nice cars and houses. Never had a problem with anything being keyed or damaged. I have a Bentley CGT Speed edition as well and I get far more comments on it in places like St. Louis, Chicago etc where there are Bentley dealers than I do here in town. It’s strange. But my daily driver is a Ford F-250 platinum and I get tons of positive comments on it. We have a lot of farmers and factories in this area though. I just ordered a new G550 this last Tuesday. Should be delivered by late oct. looking forward to it. First one I’ve bought new, but the prices are so insane on the used examples it makes far more sense to buy new. A friend of mine owns a dealership and has a 2019 with decent options but nothing outrageous and 15,000 miles and he had to pay sticker just to get it to put on his lot and he’s asking $155,000 for it the one I just spec’d out has every possible option you can put on it incl Designo paint and will be brand new with a full warranty for $157k. And right now they are doing between 30 and $50,000 over sticker on the secondary market

Drew, I do not know how you managed to keep it together when testing out the storage space inside the center armrest for the BK coupons then Mason putting them in the glovebox. I love this car so much. I bought a 2020 GLE 450 a month ago. Partially based on your review which said it was great. And yes. You’re right. The GLE is great. But I’d still love to get the G.

In 2021, you can’t even touch a G-Wagon for $150K. They run just above $200K and up. Finally trading in the even bigger gas guzzler Hummer H2 SUT and picking my new G-Wagon up this week and I am very excited about it!

You’ve done a wonderfully thorough and well presented review, guys. For what these cost, I’m completely unimpressed. For the price of one of these, I could have two Expedition Max Platinums which are equally capable, have more cargo space, and with most of the same features or I could have a few 4Runner Limiteds which are also very capable and ultra reliable.

Doubtful, but the real problem is that the side exhaust reduces ground clearance/breakover angle! I think the diesel model has rear exhaust, but maybe not available in US?

Its actually required in my state that the exhaust pipe must go past the 2nd or third row of seats.
