I would buy the Chevy Equinox for 2 reasons: 1. The lower price combined with the features you get. 2. I love the look of the tan interior in the Active trim. To many black interiors out there now a days.

There are far more important reasons to go Rav4: More power, far better MPG, Toyota has a far better reputation for reliability, its quieter, and hauls more in the back. Better sounds system too. The Equinox has a terrible sound system, drinks gas, less power...this is the definition of boring, not to mention wasting $$ on "better looks"...buying an Equinox is like marrying a beautiful, sexy wife who can't cook, has a bad reputation, and in the shack is terrible...but she's very pretty, right?? LOL. It seems your priorities are irrational...

@TheSilverGlow I wouldn't call the Rav4 quieter. It's known to have a noisy interior ride. But to tell me that my opinion is irrational is just insane. Rav4 has had the same look for 6 years now, and im bored with it. The technology is lackluster. If this was last year Equinox model, then I would choose the Rav4. Until Toyota redesigns the Rav4, then I will hold my judgment. What's so funny is that if these cars switch badges, then the new Chevy Equinox will be chosen if it was a Toyota. It's people like you who take these car comparisons and brands way too seriously. Not all vehicles will be perfect. Even Toyota right now is going through recalls challenges. As of right now, I like the new Equinox over the Rav4. Will I buy the new Equinox? No. But I admire it for what it is.

I think the reason Chevy didn't add another powertrain is because they have more ambitious EV plans than other traditional auto-makers. The way their incentives are, if you want more power, you can get an Equinox EV, which some of my neighbors have done. They figure the buyer who will cross-shop this with vehicles like the Rav4 knows none of them are particularly athletic except for CX-50, which IMO is more of a Buick Envision competitor Atp.

I had a 2012, it burned oil, it blew the rear main seal, and the engine finally went out at 265k miles. I liked it a lot but have a 2924 Rav 4 hybrid now.

You mentioned transmission options for these two cars. I would suggest - in the position of fairness to Toyota - that when you say it has an "E-CVT," it would be more accurate to remind people that an "E-CVT" is NOT one of those bad rubber band CVT transmissions. There are a LOT of people who still don't understand that E-CVT is NOT the same as CVT. All they see is the "CVT" part.

@jezkerjamez7110 In Chevy defense, they know people need affordable cars. Hybrids are good to have, but it's costly. Here's what I'm thinking. GM is currently negotiating with Hyundai. I think they may use Hyundai's technology for hybrids and PHEV. Then, you also have to put in consideration that everyone was on the EV train. So Chevy or GM didn't think that EV sales would take a decline. But what most people don't know is that it's a high insurance premium to insure hybrid cars. All though you're saving money at the pump, but spending more on insurance.

The Equinox and it’s sibling the GMC Terrain both are lacking in power. I would suggest that both vehicles replace the 1.5 Turbo with the 2.0 Turbo found in the Cadillac XT4. All Trims of both vehicles need to have multiple interior color choices like Black, Grey, and Tan on all trims.

No matter what, turbo engine will have shorter life than non turbo, that is just a fact. Toyota Hybrid engine will even last longer than normal engine because of the electric motor is reducing the load engine have to take especially when a car start moving, when engine have to work the hardest and engine components get worn the most. So Toyota Hybrid engine will last quite long, that is also a proven fact. Chevy does looks nice, but I value what is under the hood.

Please STOP giving extra points for giant wheels. Also, when talking about safety, the Recent Rav 4 rated better in the original and updated crash tests compared to the outgoing (2023) Equinox. I am not sure how much they have improved safety for this new model but the Rav 4 might still be safer. This is according to the IIHS. They have not reviewed the 25 Equinox yet. The Rav 4 is a top safety pick. Also, I think the mirror positions of the Rav 4 are better allowing for better visibility. The Chevy wins with screen integration.

I drive 2020 FWD . I get 30 up to 34mpg in the city and up to 40mpg on the highway at 75 mpg.1.5 turbo with 6 speed transmission.

I'm not too sure why you chose the Rav 4 Hybrid against the Equinox? It's a given the Rav 4 will have that extra kick of power. So it's a lop sided comparison in the Rav 4s favor. And bigger tires changes ride and such. So again it's one of those side by sides that weren't really fair/equal in some respects. Just saying I'd still take the Equinox over the Rav4 as the styling in my opinion is better.

Interior and exterior will go to the all (new "Equinox"); The Infortainment center goes to the (new "Equinox"); The wheels and tires, the all (new "Equinox"); makes the Toyota look like ir is stuck in the 1990's. All in people see the exterior while driving and the Toyota looks crippled and the metal shape looks like it is going to lean forward and drill into the ground. The (new "Equinox") interior by far looks like a bespoke interior made for the consumer. The Toyota has an OUTDATED entertainment system and the gauges look antiquated, circa 2000s. Also, the Toyota's wheel well arches look out of place, sorry this is one ugly SUV. GM is giving you for the money a vehicle that will outlast the Toyota as Toyota has too many problems with their vehicles.
