you need a string trimmer with a clutch for that motor design to work, but also needs to be a bit of a bigger string trimmer too

Maybe you could try to build one of the 8ft "flatty" hydroplanes. Usually they are built from plywood and use a small outboard motor, but cardboard and foam could probably be used. These little things are designed for lakes, and they go like hell! Your electric power would probably be great for that. Plans are available through Glen L, or Popular Mechanics.

So theres this sailboat, and its kind is called a gillette sailboat, because underneath, there was a wooden blade, and then a block of wood at the end of it, and it would kinda anchor the boat so it wouldnt flip, and if it tried, the lond blade would kinda push the water away. Mabye if you did that, the boat would be more stable.

I use to make boats out of cereal boxes and tape, then spray painted them to make them waterproof. To motorize them, any small electric motor tied to popsicle sticks attached to the back would do....this was 56 years ago...then raced them in our pool. Still have one on display.

I'm really glad your arms aren't long enough to have reached all the way to the prop when it capsized...

You guys should have covered the boat hulls with fiberglass after you built the boat out of cardboard. That way it wouldn't absorb the water and fall apart on you. You could coat the inside of the boat with fiberglass as well basically using the cardboard structure for the fiberglass to stick to. Once the fiberglass cures you'll have a much more durable boat.
