Another thing to keep in mind. When you slow down in adaptive cruise control, if the car in front of you changes lanes or traffic speeds up quickly your vehicle will accelerate rapidly if there is a significant difference between the speed you were slowed down to and the speed you have set on the cruise control. You may not want to take off that rapidly, so you need to be alert for such sudden changes by the vehicle in front of you.

How are you finding your Tucson experience? Are you happy with the car? I'm about to pull the trigger on this vehicle.
@tkeeg
@tkeeg 2 жыл бұрын
@@kippywylie I absolutely LOVE this car! I am older and don't need a hot rod sport car, but wanted something sleek & futuristic looking. I am also a tech junkie and wanted something with all of the bells & whistles so I bought the Limited Trim with everything in it and I couldn't be happier! I was concerned before buying the car because of so many people saying that the standard engine was too small and underpowered. Within 1 minute of test driving the standard engine I found that it had plenty of power for me and that was the engine I bought saving myself thousands over the hybrid engines which were not even available in my area anyway. This Limited Trim car, quite literally, nearly drives itself and is very close to being a self driving car when you lean what settings to use. I recommend that you invest the time to watch the many great tutorial videos on how to operate ALL of the functions and hidden menus of this car so you can get everything that it has to offer you. If you can afford the Limited Trim the extra features you get with it over the lower trim models to me are well worth the extra money. Ask your dealer about the extra features and check them out for yourself. Once you experience them it is hard to settle on not having them. Around town in stop & go traffic I get about 23 mph and on the highway I get about 28 mph using regular unleaded gas with the AC climate control always on since I live in the hot climate of South West Florida. If you live somewhere where you do not have to use the AC all the time you will probably get better mileage. The car is as solid as a tank and rides like a dream, much nicer than the 2014 Ford Escape that I had before this car. You will have a lot of strong protection around you if God forbid you are involved in a bad accident. I've owned the car for about 7 months now and would buy it again in a heartbeat! I hope this helps with your decision.

@@tkeeg Wow. Thank you. I'm now 73 years old, retired and honestly the car sits for most of the sunny days while I do errands on my ebike. But, every winter I drive round trip 6 days of eight hours days 2'000 miles to sunny climate in Mexico. I'm especially drawn to your comment about the technology adaptive cruise because on these long drives it can get exhausting. It will be curious to experience this down the length of California through San Francisco then Los Angeles. I'm also think only FWD since I have not been in snow in 12 years, and I never off road. I personally wonder about that huge panoramic moon roof because it seems like too much?
@tkeeg
@tkeeg 2 жыл бұрын
@@kippywylie We are close to the same age as I'll be 70 in a couple months. I'm retired and only drive about 4,000 miles a year. The adaptive cruise technology is amazing and works very well. I spent countless hours reading the entire car manual and watching about 60 KZbin videos explaining all the car's features in depth. The huge panoramic moon roof is nice, but I very rarely use it since it is so hot where I live most of the year and that just puts more heat into the car. During the winter months, when the temps cool a bit, it is nice to use once in a while on a sunny day. If they offered the Limited Trim without the sun roof I would have taken that option, but if you want all the extra features included with the Limited Trim then you are stuck with the sun roof. I also got he FWD version. If you don't get a lot of snow it is a waste of money to buy the all wheel version plus it will cut down on your gas mileage. Best of luck with whatever you decide and be careful in Mexico as it is a truly dangerous place to go now.

Here's a tip it took me a little while to figure out - how to realize that the car in front of you is causing you to go slower than you have set. You can of course just look at the speedometer, but that can be distracting and annoying. An easier way (I think) is to just glance at the ACC icon. If the car on the left side of the icon is white, the car in front is controlling your speed (you are going slower than your set speed). If it is gray, the car in front is going at least as fast as your set speed, and if it is missing no car has been detected in front of you.

This is an amazingly helpful video. I purchased a 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited (regular, not Hybrid or electric model) a month ago and have been struggling to figure out all the gizmos it has. The dealership was moderately helpful but basically said, get in and play with it to figure it out and the manual is less than helpful to a newbie. This makes me feel much more confident using the cruise control and now I understand what the additional features are and will be more likely to use them. If you have other videos showing how to use all the features of the beautifully huge center console I hope I can find them too. Also, are you aware of any way, other than disconnecting the battery, to reset the system when the sound goes out? The "reset" button did nothing. I stumbled upon a response online mentioning disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes and that was the only thing that we could find that worked. Thanks again, this clears up a lot!

Hello Gail, unfortunately I don't have any other how-to videos about the Tucson on my channel other than the Highway Driving Assist and Navigation-Based Smart Cruise Control, which your Tucson should have since it's a limited. You can watch that video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJm0hmqKgc-FppI but quite frankly those features aren't nearly as useful as the standard Smart Cruise Control system that I described in this video you left this comment on. I mainly stick to Adaptive Cruise Control how-to videos for different types of cars, because it's a feature I am very familiar with and I enjoy using myself. Unfortunately I don't know anything about resetting the audio on this car either, I apologize about that.

Hi Gail, this response is a bit late but I have a '22 Tucson Limited (Hybrid) and had issues with the sound going out from time to time, usually when I was using Android Auto. What I found that usually worked was to push the Media button and switch to a different source like radio or Bluetooth audio, then switch back to the source I was listening to (Android Auto). 95% of the time that fixed it for me. The other times I had to disconnect my phone from Android Auto (I use a wireless adapter called Motorola MA1, so I unplugged that from the car and plugged it back in) and that usually solved the other 5%. Hope that helps!

Great and informative video. One comment about the end of the video. You said drivers should be more vigilant in fog, rain, snow, etc. These and other conditions are when drivers should NEVER use cruise control of any kind, no matter how smart it is. No way is this car “smart” enough to immediately enough to override driver settings and disable acceleration the instant you start hydroplaning or skidding in snow. The system is not smart enough to compensate for fog and reduce the speed accordingly.

One question: with "lane keep" turned on, if you came upon some "roadkill" up ahead, can you manually swerve around it without disengaging "lane keep" so it resumes steering after passing the "roadkill"?

Nice little session and clear :-) When you're in a traffic jam and the cars comes to 0 mph, you want to switch lanes, will it accelerate by itself, when you'd set it to cruise at 80mph or do you need to do it yourself? I think myself but I want it confirmed :-)

Have a '24 Tuscon Limited. When I cancel cruise the digital mph display isn't there anymore. Am I doing something wrong?
@briansomething5987
@briansomething5987 8 ай бұрын
Which digital display? The small one at the top (that goes away if cruise control is off) isn't your actual speed, it is the speed the CC is set for. If you want a digital display of your speed, press the left-hand button on the right side of the steering wheel (next to the cruise control buttons). The center of the display will cycle between info for this trip, info since refueling, info since manually reset, and the current speed (in big numbers).

There isn't any "default" following distance as far as a set number of yards or meters, it varies based on speed. IE the following distance will be longer at 70 MPH than it is at 15 MPH at the same exact setting

My 2023 Tucson with three months of use and 4800 miles has low oil level, I don't know if it is the properties of the oil they use or if it is the engine, I am worried.
@CarDietrich
@CarDietrich Жыл бұрын
You have a 100k warranty on the engine and transmission, but you MUST be able to prove you had all the services done on time for it to be valid. According to the owners manual, you need to change the oil and filter every 5,000 miles or six months, whichever happens first. I would do that at your Hyundai dealer so they have it on file if there is ever an issue with the engine

It would be very informative to know how the speed reduction works. My first thoughts were "how often am I going to go through brake pads"? So, is it controlled mechanically or electronically, through braking, transmission, or engine? Or a combination? I did go to the dealer, but not completely satisfied with their explanation.
@CarDietrich
@CarDietrich 2 жыл бұрын
The car will coast to slow down when it can, but it will use the brakes when it needs to as well. The system is not aggressive, it tries to be smooth, so it's not going to slam on the brakes unless it's an emergency situation and the person in front of you slammed on their brakes. To the specific question of "how often am I going to go through brake pads?" The answer to that is pretty much exactly as often as you would if you didn't use the Smart Cruise Control. Think about it, it doesn't change the driving conditions you're in. If the car in front of you slows down quickly, the brakes are going to be used. It's either you hitting them or the car's computers.
@patrickbarrett1255
@patrickbarrett1255 2 жыл бұрын
I should have clarified. The car in front is traveling at 60 mph, and my cruise is set at 75 so we are both going 60. Are my brakes holding me at 60 or is another system, ie transmission?
@CarDietrich
@CarDietrich 2 жыл бұрын
No, the brakes are not holding you at 60 in that situation. The car is adjusting the throttle and what gear the transmission is in to maintain the speed of the car in front of you.
