Yes the range will be tight, and if you lose range one of you (either the Cardo or the Sena) will have to reactivate the intercom session - I don't think they will automatically re-establish the intercom on their own. Hope that helps!

A: How do I (a pack creator) utilize this new feature in the background for the benefitof the entire group? And,... B: Can i play my music, directly from a mobile phone, while simultaneously I've already bridged another device (eg: a Sena 20s) into our DMC network?

Very informative & thank you for taking the time to help us all out. I recently started riding with a rider who uses a Cardo SHO-1. I realize we have to use a blue Tooth connection & we have had some success but the connection is constantly dropping when we are riding 15-20 feet apart out in the country so no signal interference that we are aware of. I suspect it is how he has his GPS & Phone connected to the SHO-1 & this is the reason for my question. What is the optimum way for him to setup his phone & GPS with the Sho-1 or is the Sho-1 incapable of doing everything he is asking it to do & communicate over a blue tooth device? He has disconnected his phone from the Sho-1 with good & bad outcomes. Thank you in advance for your insight.

@daemn425 жыл бұрын
This video is *almost* useful, but I had to go back to the manual. The problem I have is that whenever I pair my Sena into the Packtalk I lose connection to the Cardo app for good. Unfortunately you switched between DMC and Bluetooth and back to DMC using the app, which I can't do after pairing. You should have demonstrated it all with the buttons on the device. In that case it means hitting the Phone and Intercom buttons at the same time to switch between DMC and Bluetooth intercom. And of course hitting only the intercom (top) button once, disables and re-enables the bridge itself with a rising blurp and or falling blurp.

Great video. I have a question, coming from the fact that I will be travelling with a group of 7 friends on a quite a long trip from Ireland to Europe this summer. Right now we all have Interphone Bluetooth headsets and the max we can link together is 6, not 8. Without doing something clever we’d have to have two separate Bluetooth groups. Not good. I have been looking at your video and wondering if my wife and I were to get 2 Packtalks would it be possible to have 2 x 3 ‘chains’ of Bluetooth connected to each with the Packtalk devices using DMC? It strikes me that if you can bridge in one Bluetooth device as you have shown, then if that Bluetooth device is also connected to other Bluetooth sets we should all be joined? The key question being can you have a chain of Bluetooth radios bridged into the DMC? Or can it handle just 1?
@MotoGeekFreak5 жыл бұрын
(Omgosh if you all had Packalk...DMC Mesh would be PERFECT for this trip...) Great question and I'll do my best to answer. First and foremost, it's important to remember that ANYTIME you are pairing one brand with a different brand, it uses the "Mobile Phone" pairing slot of ONE of them. Watch this video I did for more info on this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jZacoId4idaSl9E I start with that, because what you are trying to do MAY be do-able, and it depends on the capabilities of the Interphone headsets you have. IF the Interphone has the ability to bring an active phone call into the intercom group (ex. 3 Interphones connected for intercom and talking, one of them gets a phone call....can he bridge that phone call into the group so that all 3 of them can hear and talk to the caller?? Might be noted in the Interphone manual is Conference Calling or something like that...) then yes, it should work. Here's why: When setting up a cross-brand pairing, one of them treats it like an actual "Intercom" session (universal pairing), and the other headset treats it as an active "phone call" (mobile phone pairing). This is the way all brands connect to any other brand, and it uses the HFP Bluetooth Profile, the same profile it uses when pairing a mobile phone for phone calls. Basically, one of the headsets "THINKS" it's on an active phone call, but it's not, it's talking to another Bluetooth headset. So if a headset can be on a true intercom session, and bring an "active phone call" into that intercom session, then theoretically it should work. Here's how the pairing would go: 1.) Put both Packtalks in a DMC/Mesh group with each other then set them aside 2.) Pair 3 Interphone headsets together using their recommended intercom pairing order 3.) Pair the other 3 Interhpone headsets together same as the first 3 4.) Grab 1 Packtalk, and 1 Interpone from the first "Interphone group", and pair them together using Universal Intercom on the Packtalk, and Mobile Phone pairing on the Interphone 5.) Grab the 2nd Packtalk, and 1 Interphone from the second "Interphone group", and pair them together same as above 6.) Get the 1st group of Interphone users talking to each other 7.) Get the 2nd group of Interphone users doing the same 6.) Activate "DMC Bridge" on the first Packtalk (one press of the Intercom button) and wait for it to connect to the Interphone headset it's paired with. Since the Interphone will then think it's on a "phone call", have that Interphone "share that phone call" with the rest of his Interphone group and the 4 of them will be connected 8.) Do the exact same thing with the second Packtalk and the Interphone it's paired with, then the 8 of you will be connected because the Packtalks will be glue-ing those two groups together via the "DMC-Brdige" capability of the headset. I'll be super curious to know if this works so let me know!! lol. As I said, theoretically it should, assuming the Interphone has the ability to bring a "phone call" into its "Intercom"-world. P.S. If you end up with a total of 4 Packtalks, this all would change (for the better), because then you could connect those 4 together in DMC/Mesh, and have each Packtalk just DMC-Bridge in ONE Interphone headset each. This would connect all of you together for comms, and since the "core 4" would be connected using DMC it would be MUCH more stable...

Am I right in thinking you can pair another brand bluetooth headset to a Packtalk on channel A at the same time as your phone to channel B for music etc? Sorry if that's a silly question just trying to decide if i'm going for a Sena 30k or a Packtalk Bold
@MotoGeekFreak5 жыл бұрын
Daniel Jones With Cardo the A and B channels are both exclusively for Bluetooth Intercom but have nothing to do with your device pairings (say Device 1 and Device 2) So, yes you could be paired to another brand on your A channel, but still absolutely be paired to your phone as “Device 1” and say a GPS on “Device 2” all simultaneously. Hope that helps!

MotoGeek Freak Brilliant, thank you. I do have another question as you seem to know a lot about these. I want to record audio to a Sony X3000 (they have a 3.5mm jack so none of this GoPro adapter business) including my voice and what I’m hearing. Do the Bolds have an aux out for this? I know the speakers are on a jack so I could use a splitter but apparently they don’t have sideline so I would only be able to record what I’m hearing and not my voice, is this correct? Do you know of any other ways around it?
@MotoGeekFreak5 жыл бұрын
@@DanielJonesParamotor Good question. Okay so I haven't tried this myself but a buddy has and apparently it work great. First off, you're correct the Packtalk's don't have sidetone so recording via a splitter on the speaker jack will capture everything else but won't capture YOUR voice. This is what he did: got an extra DMC headset, made it part of the "group", and tossed it in his backpack with a digital recorder connected to it. It captures everything. If you decide to go this route, here's a tip: look for a single SMARTPACK model. This model is discontinued by Cardo but has full-mesh capability and would be the easiest on the wallet to make it happen. Anyways, best of luck and hope that helps!

In earlier firmware versions, I thought the standard was to have the non-Cardo unit on the B-channel prior to using DMC bridge. But here you are saying it needs to be on the A channel. So this is a change from earlier versions, right? I remember Cardo being adamant about using the B channel for DMC Bridge.
@MotoGeekFreak5 жыл бұрын
Yes you are spot-on! DMC-Bridge originally was 2 clicks of the intercom button and would bridge-in whatever headset was paired on your B channel for intercom. After they released v4.0 firmware update it's now just a single click of the Intercom button and it bridges-in the A channel pairing (not the B channel). Took me some getting used to but makes a little more sense overall. Hope that helps!

@@goombadeluxe Yeah each Packtalk can bridge in 1 headset. Holland! Nice!! a. Yes, DMC Bridge feature on Packtalk will bring the Interphone fx5 (or any other Bluetooth-only headset) into the DMC group. b. I've heard good things about the fx5 (it's not a crappy headset) so it may actually sound pretty good! When you use DMC Bridge to bring in a crappy headset, yes, it can and will affect everyone else! Only thing: the range between the Packtalk and the Interphone fx5 will not be very great, and that's normal when pairing two different brands together. Anyways, best of luck!

@MotoGeekFreak5 жыл бұрын
Hey @Trekky Delirium, yeah first off you can definitely connect 4 riders for intercom between packtalk & freecom. Here's the easiest way to do it: Pair both Freecom 4s together on their A channels. Then, pair both of the Packtalks together on their respective A channels. THEN, take one Freecom 4, and one Packtalk, and pair them together on their B channels (because A is already taken on both of them). This means, that if either Freecom 4 taps their Intercom button once, that'll open up the A channel and the Freecoms will be talking. Exact same goes for the two Packtalks to get them talking. THEN, double-tab the Intercom button on one of the headsets that has been paired on a B channel, and that will connect the Packtalk(s) to the Freecom(s). As for the C channel, I'm totally confused as to why it exists in the first place. You don't need it (or use it) when connecting 4 headsets for Bluetooth intercom. Anyways, hope that helps!

Thanks! So the answer is yes; once paired in Bluetooth Intercom Mode, if you switch over to DMC Intercom Mode, your Packtalk and G9 would remained paired and usable for Intercom (via the DMC-Bridge feature). I know that if you have the Packtalk in Bluetooth Intercom Mode, paired to the G9, and turn it off...they would remained paired the next time you go to use them. The only thing I’m not sure about is if you were to leave it in DMC Intercom Mode; would it remember the G9? I’m aaaaalmost positive it would, just haven’t tried it personally. Hey there - to best answer this question I would suggest checking out the vid I just posted about the "Golden Rules" on universal intercom pairings. In short, yes you can all 3 talk with the headsets you have, but because there is 2 Senas and 1 Cardo in this arrangement, your going to have 1 of the Senas use Universal Intercom Pairing the "hack into" your Packtalk (that will make more sense once you watch the vid! lol) Hope it helps out!

Great video. Also watched your "Golden Rules" which does, indeed, clear up a lot of confusion. Nice work. I have a couple questions (one for this video and one on the "Golden Rules" video): Question: Can the Non-Cardo headset (in this case the Sena 20s) also initiate/open and close (or drop in and out of) a DMC conversation/group? Thanks!
@MotoGeekFreak6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! As for your question: it's a good one! I'm almost Positive that the Non-Cardo headset can open/close (join/leave) the DMC conversation once setup as the "Bridge" unit, but I'm not entirely sure. I need to try this and get back to you. Of course the Packtalk can open/close the "Bridge" to the Bluetooth headset and bring it into the DMC conversation, just need to confirm whether or not the "other" headset has the same option. If you find out for yourself before I do let us know here!! Thanks and sorry for not having a complete answer to this!

And my Bluetooth friend will he have to disconnect his satnav and phone to allow connection to us? Many thanks, keep up the great work😎
@MotoGeekFreak6 жыл бұрын
Hey Paul, thanks and glad you find them useful! Okay, now for your answer (stick with me on this one). This is the correct video for this conversation, "DMC Bridge", because this is the exact feature that will make it happen for you. For starters, make sure your Smartpack has the latest software. They gave that model a BIG boost on the latest update (it's now identical to the original Packtalk and most importantly it gained the DMC-Bridge feature). So, you have 3 DMC headsets (2 Packtalk Bolds and a Smartpack).... you will want to put those 3 into a DMC Group with each other. After that, have each DMC headset pair to one of the Bluetooth headsets. For Example: -Packtalk Bold 1 paired to Teamset Pro 1 on Channel A -Packtalk Bold 2 paried to Teamset Pro 2 on Channel A -Smartpack paired to standard Bluetooth headset using Universal Intercom pairing on the Smartpack and Mobile Phone pairing on the standard Bluetooth headset. At this point you're set. Each DMC headset will activate DMC-Bridge to pull their Bluetooth headset into the group, and all 6 of you will be connected to hear/talk to each other. Hope that makes sense and helps out a bit!
