Excellent film about the often terrifying aspects of Dementia; isolation, helplessness, loss of self, fear, confusion, hopelessness, fragmented memories, AND SOMETIMES the neglect/abuse they must endure, when receiving "CARE". Sadly, this film is a very accurate depiction some of our aged population face everyday.

My husband’s aunt’s mother was in a care home due to advanced Alzheimer’s among other health problems during the pandemic so his aunt was not allowed to visit her. The poor, elderly woman stopped eating & drinking and the care home “nurses” just said “oh well” and let her be. A few weeks later she’s in hospital severely dehydrated, underweight, bedsores, her adult diaper hadn’t been changed in 9-13 days so the infection from that alone got into her bloodstream and long story short she died of neglect. Her fecal matter and urine caused maggots to eat away at her bottom. What a gruesome way to let someone die. This wasn’t a state run home either. This was supposed to be a first class, incredibly costly establishment. However, due to the pandemic no one was allowed to visit and check on their loved ones so the staff didn’t do their jobs. I’m so mad and sad that the elderly are mistreated.

My God, that is truly awful and heartbreaking. I am so sorry for your husband's aunts loss and the entire family. I worked in nursing homes well into my 20's. When I was about 19, I worked 2nd shift at the front desk of an upscale senior home. I had to report a nurse there for hitting an elderly man. I don't know if she just didn't notice me there or didn't care. They fired that nurse the next day but I've never forgotten about it. I can only imagine how many more do things like that one did when others aren't around. Especially working night shifts. I'm in my 40s now and my family knows I will never stick my parents, my husband's parents, and I don't ever want to be out into any home of any kind because of that experience.

A true horror story, in every sense of the word. That sense of abandonment and isolation, of 'care' that never materialized. Only abuse and neglect instead. That a person should have to end their life in such a manner is truly a horror of epic proportions and a disgrace over mostly our own country, where our elderly are not given the place of honor given in other cultures. So bravo to you for addressing this issue...
@cjmacq-vg8um7 жыл бұрын
if i'm not mistaken the horrors associated with this film is time itself; old age and society's neglect and abuse of its elderly and infrastructure. whenever I see an old dilapidated building many things run through my mind. like who built the structure? who used to occupy it? and capitalism is such waste by allowing these buildings to literally disintegrate and turn to rubble. its a shame that capitalism does the same to elderly as well. Or maybe she was wandering around the place, looking for the plot of the story, and being unable to find it, she eventually succumbed to the emptiness of the house, which was a metaphor to this story, and she forgot who she was, or what she was, or why she was there, she became lost forever in a story that had no real meaning.

Soooo Beautiful! I think everyones take on it is different. I see her as an old woman living in a big fancy house that is now foreign to her...some form of abandonment...maybe it was once her big fancy home or maybe her spirit is living amongst the ruins of this old wreckage, it could also be dementia. In any form it is terrifying to get old and also to be left lonely and or helpless! Great movie

Very visual and very dramatic. An elderly woman who is living inside a haunted institution of horrible memories. But why is she still there? Or is she somewhere else doing all the remembering? This is truly a very interesting exploration, but falls short of completing itself with enough insight to grasp the true reality of the story.
@NoMoreAdulting7 жыл бұрын
curt childress I'm probably way off track, but it almost seemed like she was a confused soul. A mass murder victim who spends part of her time wandering and unaware that she's dead.....and part of her time reliving her death (crouched in the closet and looking up at the killer after he found her). I assume a disgruntled employee, fed up with the short staffing, went postal on everyone, thus the blood stains and angry yelling.

My first instinct was to hate this because of all the unanswered questions but those questions are now becoming the very reason I actually like it! First lesson to all is perception!! Every person watching saw the same film but not everyone came to the same conclusions... Why, how, who, what!?! Nothing answered therefore our perception became everything! Also I wouldn't classify this as horror but more of a psychological "thriller" if you will. Interesting to read what everyone conveyed...my first thoughts were Zombies? The mind of an OCD or Germaphobe...? Is she a forgotten dementia patient?! Frustrating & captivating!

This is a good film, although sad. I often think that this will be me. I am married, although we haven't lived with each other for 4 years and will get divorced when I have enough money to pay for it. Him pay for it? HA not a chance! I have no children, although I did want them, just I couldn't have any because of health issues, and I am sure my Mom will be gone, she is 68 now, and my brother will hopefully have a family by then, and my sister and her husband and kids, they barely tolerate me as it is. I am not really close to most of my family on my Dad's side, as they for whatever reason don't speak to me, and well most of my Mom's family has passed away or I just don't know them well or at all. I will be 50 in February, so this is a real reality for me.

As to the question posted on top, it took one minute to answer that. What was my problem with it? Too much decay, made it too obvious. Perhaps if the decay had been shown to happen slowly, it would have been more effective as it would have presented a passage of time, but since everything was so far gone, there is only one possibility (which I will not name since some people maybe too slow to get it). Terrible punishment, thou.
