You are absolutely right that you’re never too old. I was 50 years and old, left my previous career of 32 years and moved to Alaska to be a bush pilot. Now I’m 54 and flying a PC12 out of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International airport. DO WHAT YOU LOVE!!!

Excellent video! I’m 58 and recently got back in the air. I was a flight instructor 89-91, flew cargo in the 90’s in DC-3’s and EMB 110, left the industry in 2002 and got into financial services to support a growing family. Well, kids are grown now and its time for this dad to have some fun once again. I never finished my CFII so I’m doing that now and planning to do more advanced instruction along with any FAR Part 91 or even 135 work that presents itself. I would certainly like to be flying something as nice as the TBM.

Thats a untrue statement. I suspect the b17 crash had everything to do with the age of the pilots. As i have said people like you dont know when to stop flying and wont unless you either die flying or are forced to stop flying.. It's the same thing you see with people in their 70's still driving when they shouldnt be. It appears they feathered the wrong prop on engine #4 when it was number #3 engine that wasn't working properly and then they also made a simple mistake of turning right when it was the right side engine failure and feathered #4.. You should be doing the right thing and stop flying because you wont until your forced to or kill yourself and others.... I am late 50's and my decision making has been effecting because of age and i have slowed down. If you love your family as much as you love flying you would stop flying..
@mre706
@mre706 5 жыл бұрын
@@FlatEarthReset You have no clue what you're talking about. Age has nothing to do with it. It comes down to the pilot. My flight instructor back in '89 was 80 when he signed me off. He was sharp as a tack and I learned more from him in the last 15 hours than I did the first several dozen with my first CFI. You mean to tell us that you don't think Capt. Sully at 68 should be flying? Ridiculous.

@@mre706 Ok so according to you it is normal for pilots to turn the to side of the downed engine on a multi engine plane??? Another words if the right engine is out turning to the right on a multi engine plane is ok??? Thats what those almost 80 year old b17 pilots did. And then it appears they feather the wrong engine because in the photos engine 4 was feather engine 3 was the failed engine.. So thats two engines not producing on the right side Sounds like you dont know what your talking about! And on top of that they made a short right turn to final at 500 feet

Hey Steveo. If I heard the traffic call right that you were wondering about off your left wing, it wouldve been a P8 Poseidon. It's a modified Boeing 737 that if I'm correct is due to slowly replace the P3 Orion in the Naval aviation fleet.

Thanks for putting that out there for everyone, Steveo. I'll be frank. I've got some age. As I'm no longer inclined to do the regional or legacy route, the reminder to all that pilots can STILL Part 91 as long as they have their medical needs to be reminded to a lot of people. . .ok, not necessarily "reminded" but also "educated" on the fact flying past 65 is STILL available with the medical. Flight instructing is always available; aviation support opportunities never end either. Keep flying; keep motivating.

His father was the tax collector back in the 30's I believe... My aunt and uncle still live right off the runway (if you took off on 27 you'd fly right over their house),always enjoyed hearing the C-130's headed out :-) My children were born in St Pete @ All Childrens but I didn't want to raise them there so we live in the mountains of western NC now... Just logged another .5 in my steveo logbook! I'm an almost 58 year old private pilot with instrument and multi engine ratings. Within the next couple of years, I am looking to retire from my second career, after almost 40 years working with the military, and hope to finally fulfill my dream of becoming a commercial pilot or CFI. I finally decided what I want to be when I grow up! For those who believe they are too old, I have older friends in professional aviation who continue to encourage me to follow my dream. The pilot shortage facing professional aviation will make following that dream more realistic. Thanks for stoking the fire steveo!

With a global shortage of pilots it seems now is a great time for people who have wanted to pursue this dream to finally step up. I know Im one of them! Thing is, for many of us we're getting in to our late 30s and 40s and have families as well as established careers, so the thought of change can be intimidating. The white and more dense the cloud is the more turbulence the lighter and more wispy the cloud the less turbulence... And that's pretty much standard for all clouds

At 64 years old, I just got a captain position at a 135 company hoping that I will have this for the next 20 years. If I can do it, you can do it too.

Steve-O let your audience know it's never too late. I made a career change into Aviation full time at age 53! You'll have to bust your butt, and spend a good amount of money but you can do it. I'm living proof.
