As an amateur joiner I'm more interested in the Carpet guy as well seeing as the guy actually helps in building a home while the plane helps blow homes up. I'm not a pacifist or anything but as I'm constantly fascinated by furniture making, I'm sure I would be equally fascinated by the way carpet is made, sewn, installed and removed. Skills like carpetting and joinery have so much history and speaks of thousands of years of innovation. And while I'm sure a pilots job is tough and grueling, but he's only noticed when flying the sky, while if you look closely, a carpet mans handiwork is noticeable in every room you enter.

It could be done if the pilot would be shown as a total introvert who just wants to forget haunting memories and tormented by PTSD. "What was the coolest trick?" "Coming home and pretending I still have a soul" And the carpet seller could be extravertic and using metaphores. How selling a carpet is almost like a magic trick because you have to know to to manipulate people. And talk about reading body language, negotiation techniques. And of course he could go "You kids like McDonalds? I sold the carpet to them"
