I love this jet with Bert Pieke's GTN750 Mod (Thank you Bert!). I've decided to use this Hawker with the mod for my Pilotedge I-09 rating. I'll have to fly her a little more to get more used to flying her, but I think she will do just fine. I really like your videos on this aircraft, Tim. They are very interesting and helping me a lot. Thanks for the video Tim. I always enjoy your stuff when the new ones come out. I was so disappointed with the problems I had with the upgraded S550 for the FMS from Carenado that I have stayed away from the Hawker. I should go back and see if they came out with more SPs for the S550.

Jerry HondaJet Thank you Jerry, The Hawker has been a bit of a challenge to figure out proper operation of the Flight Guidance System. Carenado Documentation is limited. Pretty much trial and error (read: guesswork). I cruise the AVSIM Forums and do a lot of test flights to figure out how to manage the aircraft in takeoff, climb, descent, and approach modes. It takes commitment and patience to be sure. I will say the FMS has behaved fairly well although it is a lite version. The VNAV is very basic, but it will get you down at a fixed point in space reasonably well. I think I could fly this bird on VATSIM now with some level of confidence for what that's worth. I am on to A2A's new Piper Comanche. Loving that airplane. A2A Rocks! Kindest Regards, Tim G., FS MaNiA

Gee Tim. No Miss Peabody on this flight? I miss her. :) This is a beautiful jet. I love her proportions. I also love the warm, brown wood and tan leather interior. Lovely. I also think Carenado did a superb job with the engine sound. It's among the very best jet engine sound I've heard in FSX. I want to get her, as well as the Bert Pieke GTN750 mod, even though I won't be ready to fly jets for a while. I hope all is well with you. :) Jeff

Thankfully it cleared up before that turn to final. The approached seemed challenging enough! Also, looks like the GTN makes the Hawker more enjoyable. Good thing there's people like Mr. Pieke around. Maybe Carenado should freelance these people. Ha! Can't go wrong with A2A. The next series should be fun to watch.

Lobta Thanks Lobta, Agree and thumbs up on Mr. Pieke. Super smart guy. One of the best things about Carenado and he doesn't even work for them. I have had a blast flying the A2A Comanche. First flight was from Dutch Harbor to Cold Bay. I had not yet studied the S-Tec autopilot and had no idea how to operate or activate any of the modes. I just hand flew the entire flight including shooting an ILS approach to minimums!!! Whew, it's been a while since I had to do that. I was rusty but managed a descent approach and landing. Great airplane modeling when it makes you feel like your going to die if you don't nail the approach. Video coming soon! Kindest regards, Tim G, FS MaNiA

I like the look of this aircraft, I have had it installed on my p3d v2.5 system for about 6 weeks without getting it off the ground once due to a very slow frame rate (.3 fps yes I mean less than 1fps) Carenado have as yet been no help at all as far a patch or update is concerned. When at last I get this aircraft flying I'd like to try this mod ,it looks very good. Thanks for the video.

Actually used the standard FMS for part 1 departure from Kenai. Figured out a better way to manage the climb with ""FLC" so wanted to show that. Switched to Bert's GTN mod mid-air magic for part 2. Bert changed the autopilot a bit from the default and I didn't want too much more confusion . Tim.

Question? How did you integrate the navigraph chart display into the GTN750 Map display for the approach?

Je Whipple He Je Whipple, Go to the map page, select the "menu" button at the bottom of the screen, select "Charts" button. It should light up with a green bar. That's it. Whatever approach you select, the GTN 750 should overlay the chart onto the map. Hope that helps. Cheers, Tim G., FS MaNiA

David, You can find this upgrade by signing in at AVSIM . Go to Forums, Carenado Unofficial Support, Hawker 850XP. Look for thread titled GTN mod. Hi Jimmy, Sorry for the delayed response to your question. The Garmin GPS to the right of the 750 is another copy of the GTN 750 in place of the co-pilot's MFD. It has all the same functionality as the pilot's GPS. Thanks for the question and kindest regards, Tim G., FS MaNiA

Hi Gimax, the ATC you here is recorded from LiveATC.net. For this video I used an Anchorage feed to keep it relative. I add the audio to the video to add realism. There is always ATC chatter on the flight deck or cockpit of high altitude flights. One of these days I have on my to do list, a VATSIM or Pilot Edge flight series. +chrisrob57 Hi crisrob57!! I'm sorry your having problems with the Garmin GTN-750 in the Hawker Jet. There is a forum over at AVSIM that is dedicated to Carenado products and a specific forum for the Hawker. If you will look in over there, you will see a series of post regarding the GTN 750 in the Hawker. There is a gentlemen (Bert Pieke) that provides the necessary files to interface the GTN 750 in the Hawker panel. You will see post by him in the forum. You can send him a message requesting the necessary files. He has been away on a month long trip, however, I think he should be back very soon and he is extremely knowledgeable in this area. Also, I am going to be installing the GTN-750 in the last leg (coming soon) of the current series I'm working on with the Carenado Phenom 300. Under "Commercial Support Forums scroll down to the "Carenado Support Forum" and then the "H850XP" . You will see a topic on the installing the GTN 750. Hey Tim! Another great vid! Hey ... Gotta question. I loved the GTN 750 you installed in the Hawker so well, I bought it from Flight1for $50 bucks. But, I'm having a hell of a time getting it to "Light Up" in my aircraft. I bought, downloaded, and installed it into the VC of three of my A2A planes without any issues. However, I cannot get it to fire up! I've check boards, posts, vids etc. I don't know what else to do! The stand alone GTN Trainer lite works great! Just can't fire it up in any of the planes. +chrisrob57 Hi Chris, I will be doing a full flight with the GTN 750 in the very near future on leg 4 of the Phenom 300 Brazil to Wichita epic ferry flight. If you aren't a member of AVSIM, I highly recommend joining. You will find a wealth of resources for the flight simmer. Membership is free!! Once you join, you can access the member forums, go to the Carenado Unofficial support forum, and check in the Hawker forum. You will see a specific post regarding the GTN 750 started by Bert Pieke.
