Picked up my 2021 Eclipse Cross Aspire on Tuesday after trading in my 2011 ASX Aspire. (BTW after nearly 10 years my ASX was still running like a dream), Main observations. Engine and steering are fantastic. Plenty of power and very responsive. Seats are comfortable but I am 190cms tall and mid console can be a little restrictive compared to the ASX which was much lower. Getting used to it though. Much more rear room compared to ASX though. Safety tech is great. Infotainment system is OK. If you change audio mode it kicks you out of Google maps and its two or three steps get back. I agree the tray for the phone is quite small. As for styling, I love both interior and exterior styling. The orange of the halogen headlights looks a bit dull though compared to the LED running and fog lights. The fact it uses 91 petrol as opposed to premium which many of its competitors need, has a 10 year warranty and fixed price servicing (with my dealer coming to me to service it) are all bonuses. I looked at all the competitors before I chose this one. All in all though I think this hits the sweet spot for me. Great car and for the price better than the competitors looking at it cumulatively

There's same or worst issue with another brand yet reviewers skip over. Yet makes stupid arguments. 1 was that the split window has less visibility when all along the lower half of the split was an additional view. Many other brand in the cross price range n higher has cheaper material... (this newer design has way more cheaper part). The larger screen as requested by none mitsubishi fans n reviewers makes no dam sense as it only increase in height n not width.. 16:9 way better than the now aspect ratio plus it was a way cleaner look without the knobs... 1 knob should be most place on an entertainment display. Complain about trunk space n I am yet to use a 1/4 of space in older model. These changes though requested will not cause anybody who follow negative stigma of mitsubishi to purchase the cross ... mitsubishi should stick to its course as the cross was beginning to grow on people. Great review! Agree on all of the points you've tackled but for me, I wouldn't be too bummed about the tech not being too advanced as the brand has always focused on keeping everything balanced and being on the functional side. Having this simpler tech would make a lot of people have a better time dealing with it and that for me is quite an advantage for most people. Hoping Mitsubishi Motors PH will also bring this in our market, the lack of a crossover is kind of a bummer given that they've focused more on the Xpander & Xpander Cross and the Montero(Pajero) Sport.

It was between the Seltos Sport and the Eclipse for me and honestly the Eclipse is so much sleeker. Although the Seltos drove very smoothly, the Eclipse was just punchier. I also found with the Seltos that although the ‘tech’ side had more to offer, it was almost too much.. too many things yelling at me and there was too much happening on the screen. The interior was also very boring. I think the GT line is probably nicer in the Seltos range, but even the base model for the Eclipse is beautiful and it’s 10k cheaper. End of the day, depends what you want but the new Eclipse is super nice in both affordability, style and drive.
@ahmadsoyziya3 жыл бұрын
For us it is also between Seltos and Eclipse Cross. We want it for my dad. In the place we live, we have only one version in the saloon (2.0 engine, 2WD, without front row heating/cooling). I told my dad that "it doesn't have heated/cooled seats + no 2 zone climate + no panoramic roof as well, and he simply replied "so what ?" )) I agree with his points such as, today every car offers so much that we think we need them. Hello Paul, just subbed you. I have the eclipse cross for 2 years now. Love the car. Absolutly no problem untill now. This is the second most powerfull 1.5l in the martek (after Honda) . Very punchy and reletivly economical. It has direct and indiret injection. Because of this, there is no carbon acumulation (indirect). The oil is 0w20, very expensive, but the best for this kind of "small" turbo engine. I have the 6 speed manual with hand manual break. I like the tail gate of mine better because it is unique and has the back wipper hidden on top. The visibility is a little limited (but not to much). The interior is the best mitsubishi has to offer. Like i said, me and expecially the wife, love the car.

Having driven the exceed s awc for 12 months now, i can confirm it's a great modern car. We are in our early sixties, and tbh simplicity is the attraction .Perfect size for us, and has never let us down with reliability issues with 18,000 klm on the clock. Exceed has HUD with digital speedo and cruise control info, a new feature to me which i like. Takes regular fuel, a little thirsty due to s awc. Love the twin sunroof front and skylight rear. The fact Mitsubishi has been very solid in Oz for over 50 years and the Eclipse Cross is manufactured in Japan and 10 year dealer service warranty was a no-brainer for us. Recommended to all, especially seniors .

I have driven a Lancer SX for the past 12 years & just clicked over to 335,000 km's. During this time she has never skipped a beat. Yes the tech is not over the top but I love that. It is easy to use & integrate & I know how to use the phone book function Paul was finding difficult, it is similar to my lancer now which couldn't be simpler. Since making the decision to upgrade, I have test drove a mixed bag of cars including a Skoda Karoq sportline, Mercedes Benz GLC 250, Kia Seltos GTLine, Hyundai Tuscon, Kia Sportage, a BMW X1 & of course my pick. Although I was tempted to purchase a "luxury" car, they are just too expensive to run & are often problematic, rendering my decision a no brainer. The eclipse cross drove beautifully & quiet & had plenty of grunt & get up ,& boogie when I needed it AND it looks great. In the end it was a no brainer for me & I absolutely CANNOT wait to pick up my special order Exceed. The 10 10 was just unbeatable & I know first hand just how good & reliable a car they are.

I seldom use brake, use gear to regulate the speed before corner and in traffic. Unless terrain requires or in a hurry, I don't get rpm over 1500, although it's cvt it still helps if you keep rpm low. I get better fuel efficiency than tested result in most cars. I am in the USA and have a fully loaded 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL Touring with S-AWC in Octane Blue. We also have another identical one in Red Diamond. They are loaded with a dual pano roof, leather, heated front seats, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, 710 watt 9 speaker rockford fosgate audio system, power folding mirrors, remote start, sliding and reclining rear seats, led head and tail lights, power driver seat, auto dimming rear view mirror with home link, all the driver aids like forward collision warning and mitigation with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, blind spot warning with lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, auto high beams, radar cruise control, and much more! USA models have Mitsubishi Connect Telematics with sos and call center buttons in the car and a phone app to start the car, set interior temp and defrosters, adjust wiper settings, multiple vehicle controls, set geofencing, unlock and lock car, activate horn and lights, car finder, milage and travel info, car health info and much more from anywhere. I love my Eclipse Cross and my only complain would be on rough roads the ride can be a bit crashy. I know on the redesign (restyled) Eclipse Cross in the USA they re tuned the springs and shocks and added larger parts to rear suspension and am curious if this new one rides better than the 2018-2020 Eclipse Cross over large bumps. I do like the rear of my 2019 better as it was the main selling point for me and the reason I bought the car. But Americans people do not like the split rear style apparently and we know how picky us Americans are. So they got rid of it which sucks.

@@tRx777 I know we can retrofit, but this is 2021, Mitsubishi should provide it, and we don't need to do anything.

i really like those hard lookin lines on the exterior. crossovers tend to look very soft and bubbly but this one looks solid
@unknownd74093 жыл бұрын
There seems to be a lot of wasted space near the cupholders at the center console. They could have added another cubby for a smartphone or something. Also no AC vents or USB ports at the back, which is disappointing. But aside from that, it looks like a pretty good crossover.

The omission of the split rear Windows is welcome but at the same time will make the first generation a unique model and could become a future cult car. Is this the highest model? I don't see the s-awc button and track pad for the Head unit on the central console.

Hey I'm in Canada here and these tear through snow like it's their job. ( I drive the AWC full SUV Outlander 2.4L since 2009 it's a blast ) they now only fit the S-AWC to all models by default here X) You hold the steering straight while flooring it or, take a tight curve faster than you should or could, well don't worry this car has some of the best ESP systems, it can brake on one wheel at a time or more if needed ( smartly) while completely negating your throttle input and keeping compression ratios high, I've seen it a few times in action when i overcook a snowy corner and it's so neat and clever even my back wheel doens't got out of line or high the curb ( fast steering inputs will trigger it, so don't be afraid to maneuvre hard when you need to! it's a life saver) Plus I'm pretty sure 5 star safety from colision is a given with any models (7 airbags, mitsubishi crash sheild, auto engine shutoff and +)

I didn't mind the split window design of the previous model (I drive a 9th gen Civic hatch with the same deal). But would gladly opt for this design for the better vision out back. I agree, the tech is probably the let down. I would be hard pressed, deciding between half a step up to a medium SUV like CX5, or half a step down to something like a Subaru XV with a full sized spare.

@andrewgreen2153 жыл бұрын
Just bought the LS, went out expecting to buy a Mazda CX 5 but also drove the Subaru xv and seltos, Subaru was a bit small but very underpowered but a nice drive, the seltos impressed me but the stereo was weak( do love my music loud) and the CX-5 was very nice but also underpowered and way overpriced, the Mitsubishi really wasn't on my radar so I drove it twice to get my head around it, great power, quiet and smooth plus the 10-year warranty and cap priced servicing... Just hope it's better than my sigma back in the day lol

Cx5 underpowered? The 2.5 Naturally aspirated engine has 187HP. The Mitsubishi only has 152hp with a turbo.... The Mazda turbo has 250hp. So what are you talking about? I payed $24,525 for my CX-5.....
