Who are you talking about? Rory Reed? He's been doing automotive journalism and driving everything from Honda Civics to Ferrari's for ages now. Probably as long as Chris Harris (Internet Wise). That had to be a sphincter tightening moment when he started using that run off part of the track at 183!! I love my 2015 F Type R and it being RWD. but I may upgrade to a 17 or 18 SVR: I know the new ones now have SVR numbers, but I don't like the looks of them as much as mine or this SVR. We have an Aston Martin Vanquish. What do you mean that there is something lacking? It can reach 200mph and above and has a spectacular noise. The noise from the Jaguar F Type is shouty and loud whereas the Aston is sublime sounding. Orgasmic even.

Fast forward to 2020 and we see that the SVR has been discontinued... or has it? The 2021 f type r has the svr specs. Awesome but it doesn’t sound as good as the type r/svr, in my opinion but I have only seen a couple of videos.

Its sound very artificial... nothing beats the sound of older engines with throttle bodies and carbs, they are what all modern cars try to copy and yet fail. Real engine noise comes from induction, not farting exhausts.

The 458 still stands as the best sounding V8, imo. The problem with the F-Type R is that it gurgles and farts too much; cool at first but the novelty soon wears off.

Ben Critchley Correct, in fact most older cars sound better. Before they were choked to death by sound proofing, over filtered air boxes and depending entirely on exhausts with fancy butterflies in the manifold. Back in the day, with free breathing engines, even 4-pot engines sound great, there are sooo many examples.

The exhaust sounds so much better in person. The AWD SVR has 10% less total WHP than the RWD F-Types and carries 300 lbs more weight. In no way is it the fastest.

No chance or choice of manual trans(?). I'm ten to fifteen years off of buying this car and I'm already not looking forward to having to do the manual and RWD conversion. It's a fine-looking beast, though. Kind of sounds like what I'd imagine a big Dodge p/u would sound like at WOT, but whatever. I like that it's optionally offensive for no good reason. That to me is high art. For serious.
