Good looking carrier. I like the cage - should offer great cargo security. I’m just a little suspect about the shackle securing the bars. Anything that bounces and moves during transport can cause excess wear. I’d fish a zip tie around the shackle and through the diamond mesh to keep it secure/flat as possible to the mesh. At first it looked like it was about to open up enough to hit the back of your truck, but good to know it doesn’t.

Someone smarter than I showed me where the plate and u bolt go. With the plates bent side facing the carrier it bolts over the part inserted into the hitch on the underside and touches the actual hitches exterior around the opening. The u bolt draws the plate up making it basically mended to the hitch. It’s a semi permanent set up, and must be removed to take the unit off of your vehicle. Thank you Karl😊

Great video, thank you! I just finished installing the same carrier. It sits a couple of inches higher off the ground at the back so that it's not level. Is that normal? It seems fine, but I thought it was odd that it's not level.

I've never used it and everything has been fine. I don't put too much weight on it. only coolers or camp gear in totes

It’s a clever ploy to get you to watch multiple times. The instructions are lacking an exploded view to show where that plate and u bolt go. I guess it’s up to you🫤

I think it would be better if they had a top that you could lock down for when you're traveling and you stop to eat or whatever and you don't have to worry about someone swiping your stuff.

Used the wrong bolt for the coupler though, there's a long bolt with a smooth section for it

Check with your local law enforcement, I have heard that in most cases such as that, you can photo copy your license plate and attach it to a temporary tow attachment such as this so that you do not loose your plates if for some reason it comes unattached.
