@@borregoimages8117 "Highest value in its class" I did electrical work at one of the biggest KIA dealers in the Hou area. There was literaly shipping containters full of replacement warranty motors some going on Kias with 18k miles over & over again. When i asked one of the techs he simply said they are the biggest shitbox with a nice interior...ever made." I should run " Also 1/3 of buyers never get their faulty motors repaired they are intstructed to evade repairs till they warranty out. Their is no profit in warranty work. Pay a few thousand more and get a Toyota or Honda even if used.

I have a 2011 Pilot that I've owned for 11 years. Best vehicle I've ever owned. It is getting a little long in the tooth and I want to go with Honda again but was really disappointed with the redesign of 2016-2022. It looked like a minivan of sorts and not "truck-like" or rugged. Then the 2023 redesign came along....hallelujah!! The rugged "boxy" look is back!! The new Pilot is definitely in my future!

The Pilot for me! I love the trims with the removable middle seat. That’s what did it for me. That, and the fact that I’ve owned the same Honda for 14 years with zero issues. It’s such a reliable car (CR-V). Going by looks alone, I prefer the exterior of the Pilot and interior of the Telluride.

@@chubulu9842 We got the Odyssey for 11+yrs, sliding doors great for kids getting in/out w/o you next to them, huge cargo for camping, etc. The wife and kids all voted to keep it when I replaced my commute RAV4 (only 2yr old) with Pilot needed for some dirt road and towing RVs. To go camping now or skiing, I had to buy the largest Yakima roof top cargo carrier that the Odyssey used to hold all w/o problem.

I have the 2023 EX-L in red and really like it. The only complaint I have is that acceleration in the ECO driving mode is a little jerky. Less so in the other modes. Only 500 miles in, but that is the only complaint I have. Otherwise very pleased with the new Pilot.

I have always been a Ford guy but in looking at the '23 Explorer, to get one equipped the way I'd like it tops close to $70k. Sorry, but Ford has priced itself out of the running. I then looked at a Telluride X-PRo. I am a camper and like the ruggedness but have never had a Kia. Then I looked at the Pilot. Prior to having 2 Explorers and an Edge I had 2 different Accord EX's. Nice, solid, and fun to drive cars so I am sold on Honda engineering. The Piloit TrailSport has everything I'm looking for. Ruggedness and driveability, solid engineering (NA v6 no turbos), and the reputation of Honda for reliability. I'm going to buy a TrailSport within the next 60 days.

I always thought I might like a Telluride, but I went to a Kia lot to see one and was disappointed with the look of it in person. My first thought was "can I see a newer one" and was shocked to see I was looking at a 2023 model. I'm very excited about the new Pilot Elite (current 2016 elite owner) and am planning to upgrade. My only thought is it worth to wait for 2024 to see if they bump the screen size and iron out any quirks??

I completely agree, BUT, I’m typical corporate fashion… they more than likely purposely did not use the larger screen in the Pilot so they had SOMETHING to offer in the Accord. The majority of people are hating the new Accord’s design style so if it didn’t exclusively have the larger infotainment screen, I don’t think people would even blink an eye at it.

The Telluride has the better interior but I am still not sure about Hyundai/Kia quality when it comes to their engines and transmissions. The narrator did not mention the Toyota Highlander either. The Highlander looks like it may have more interior tech and comfort than the Honda and we all know that Toyota makes a quality product also. If I were to pick one for conveniences, comfort, and options, I would pick the Palisades $52K that would blow this Honda away. Reliability would make me leant towards the Highlander and the Pilot. Nissan isn't even in the hunt for me as they have had massive problems with their quality under their parent company.

Great review. Now, let's be realistic.....how many people are taking their $50K SUV off-road? NOBODY! Is this Honda pilot a Telluride killer? They are both so similar. I think Honda will have a better resale value than KIA, but KIA offers a better new warranty 10/100K vs 3/36. When Mazda releases the CX-90, this will go head to head. Honda's reliability will sell more of these than the Telluride. When the Telluride launched, it came in very affordable, now because of its popularity, the dealers are gauging customers by adding a dealer markup of $5-$10K!

@@titaniumspecial4207 My previous vehicle was a 2007 MDX. I drove a 2023 MDX for a week before buying the Pilot. In Elite trim, I can say that Honda went the distance to create a quiet interior, which was a point of emphasis for me, along with sound system quality. BTW, the Bose system, while not at the level of the Acura ELS, also acquits itself well. What kind of lighting issues are you concerned about? The headlights on this Pilot are quite strong. Dashboard? No problems with the digital dash.

Mark, those front & rear bumpers with that plastic chrome look ridiculous on the car. Plus putting the gigantic P I L O T on the front and rear further make it look cheesy. The whole package looks worse than the car it replaces. It may "look" rugged to somebody who has no idea what "rugged" actually means in an off-road vehicle. In another channel, the host claimed this look would make it compete with the Ford Bronco.... Which is pretty funny considering this is not anything but a unibody-based large car with plastic bumpers and ostentatious branding, whereas the Bronco is actually a truck chassis. It's for people who imagine they want to go off-road, but never do perhaps? The only saving grace is that it's a Honda so the engine should be bulletproof, anyway.

Great review! I agree with you about the info screen being relatively small by todays’ SUV standards. Unfortunately Honda, a company that once lead the way is once again woefully behind in not offering a Hybrid (as Toyota has done for years with the Highlander) let alone other EV variants. This, to me is indicative of Honda’s total lack on innovation and bone-headed moves over the last 10 years. Not having a viable hybrid line (compared to Toyota) is one example, another is when they discontinued the Crosstour. I had a 2012 Crosstour (leased) and I really liked it. Yes the cargo area was hampered by the antiquated strut-towers, but overall it was a great design. And just when they got rid of it in comes similar hatchback sedans from BMW, Mercedes, Audi and others (and really the Teslas) all have which are still around and sell reasonably well. I have leased seven Hondas since 2002. Two Accords, two Acuras, two Pilots (my current a 2020) and a 2012 Crosstour which I really liked. I also had a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica which was excellent and the most versatile vehicle I ever had. When the lease was up on that in summer of 2020 Honda had some great deals. I looked at the Odyssey but the fact yips still have to lug out the 2nd row seats to enlarge the cargo space (unlike the wonderful stowaway seats of the Pacifica) I passed and got a Pilot. It’s a solid SUV, but again nothing that really stands out. The gas mileage is woeful though and there’s a lot of highway wind noise. I am glad they going back to a more rugged design but unless they get a hybrid by next summer when my lease expires I’m off to Toyota for a hybrid Highlander.

Yeah, sensors help, but I prefer to trust my Mark I Eyeball. I don’t understand this desire for a “rugged” and “aggressive” look. It’s a frigg’n family vehicle. It will take you to work, take the kids to school and sports practice, and let you buy bulk toilet paper packs at Costco. 90% of these will never see any trail you couldn’t do in a family sedan. I’ve owned a few SUVs and have rented minivans, and honestly, I prefer the minivans. They have more interior room and actually drive better than the 3-row SUVs.

I mean it is attractive and comfortable, just that it isn’t a “Wow”. I previously had a Ridgeline, which is pretty much a pilot with a shortbox instead of a third row seat and a trunk. I really liked it and was very reliable and trouble free.

MPG does not equal emissions. The efficiency of the motor and the exhaust system can limit emissions even if the mileage is lower.

Honda needs that boxy look back. Nobody buying a souped up CRV with small infotainment screen.

Looks too low and long to me... should have offset the length with some height.

The interior of the pilot is inferior to the Tellurides and Palisades of the world.

Yeah, I think so too. This looks like a huge improvement over the last model though. Will that CX-90 be a”J spec” or made somewhere other than Japan?

Yeah its probably a better value, depending on what the price is going to be, but if youre looking for something more utilitarian, than the Pilot is the choice. Definitely will be watching the price on that CX-90

Belt drives are cheaper to manufacture and run quieter. Chain drives cost more to manufacture.

Goof on the editing. You got the audio on MPG wrong. Who edits this crap? This doesn’t get 31 mpg.

I was waiting for this SUV but It's just ok, underwhelming intrrior and tech, nack side window terribly designed, front is the best part. Japan needs a wake up call. Your reliability and old reputation will only take you so far when others are surpassing you in design and innovation including Korea and China.

Looks too much like a Karen car/soccer mom car unfortunately. Reliable yes, but I think the Ridgeline will continue to be Hondas best vehicle.. and of course the notorious indestructible early 2000 civics

I love Honda , my 08 Odyssey still run strong, but this year after I been with Honda for years... I have to move on... This year was for Subaru Ascent .. ok Honda lover please not be mad bút Ascent was top list over Honda or Toyota.. 🌝... it's hard for me to say good bye to Honda, but when I had Ascent .. I said I pick the right one... 😊

Honda has done a good job. The Trailsport trim will appeal to people who want occasional off-roading instead of a Bronco or 4Runner, but at the same time be a great daily driver.

The small screen size is not a deal breaker but how can the Honda Accord be available with a 12" screen and the Pilot can't? That doesn't make any sense.
