I have a 2022 Telluride SXP and LOVE it especially with the Dune Brown Napa leather interior. That said, I do really like the updated Palisade’s exterior, with the Telluride’s interior. I’m not a fan of the new Telluride headlights (the amber DRLs were so unique) and I agree that the front bumper looks a bit “plasticy”. In either case, these are amazing vehicles and you’ll be happy either way. But for me… it’s 2022 Telluride all the way.

Same here, I also have a 2022 Telluride SX and I’m so glad I got it right before they ruined the exterior styling with the 2023. I love my Telluride so much, I will probably get another one when it comes time for a new car. Hopefully they improve the exterior by then.

2023 Telluride SX-P Do miss the old body style but the new infotainment and instrument cluster are worth the trade off. I do prefer the center console on Palisade without the gear shift, however the instrument cluster and infotainment are poorly executed IMO and prefer the path Kia has chosen. Agree with it that they are truly great cars and drive so nicely for their size.

@@tyr0n313 I really like my 2023 Palisade Calligraphy. The push Button shifter is great, I wish they had put the D on top and R at the bottom. Take a some time to get use to it coming from using a shifter, but now love it.

I had a 2021 Kia Sorento and needed a bit more room so started looking at these 2 specially since they redesigned them and before I didn’t like the palisade and liked the telluride a lot but when I saw he redesign I really liked the palisade as well so went and checked them out and after seeing them it was an easy pick for me and went with the palisade calligraphy with the beige and navy interior. The outside is so much nicer and has a presence with the new grill and lights are awesome with the hidden turn signals and the DRLs are also great. The turn signal on the mirrors is also better. The rear has awesome lights and the calligraphy also has some beautiful lights that the lower trims don’t get and also has a full light strip across when you put it in reverse. Then the interior is also beautiful and the second row headrest adjust for your neck don’t get tired as well as 3rd row gets heated seats as well and don’t get me wrong, the telluride is amazing as well and you can’t go wrong either way but the palisade just gives you more imo and I prefer the more luxurious look. Like I said can’t go wrong either way and recommend both to anybody with a family. If you have any questions on the palisade feel free to ask. ✌️.

It’s funny, everyone saying the extra space under the console is for purse/handbag. When I got in and saw it I immediately thought “great place to stash my handgun when I have to enter a building I can’t conceal carry in”. Hahahaha. It’s low enough and covered enough that you can’t really see what’s down there from the outside.

If the Pallisade is a budget Mercedes (I agree), the Telluride would be a budget Land Rover rather than a 4Runner imo. A budget Land Rover without the off roading capability, but perhaps more goodies standard ✌😊

Bought a 2020 Telly SXP used with 30k from the local dealer. They have been utterly amazing. Coming from a Subaru dealer I’d gone to for years and three previous Subaru vehicles I have to say the experience these last few years with Prestige Kia has been excellent. But I know this is just one data point.

I have the Palisade Calligraphy in that Emerald Green with their adaptive 4WD. It's a fantastic 3-Row SUV. Needed the space for our family and I did a lot of research. For the price, you get so much more in the Palisade than larger full size SUVs or similarly sized upscale brands (for comparison, a base level Chevy Tahoe with 4WD starts at $59,000 MSRP, before dealer markup). It packs all the bells and whistles. And besides the amenities, it's just a good driving vehicle. The engine could have been a little more powerful, but I'm not taking this out to do burnouts, so it's good for what we use it for. The hands free driving is good for long boring driving, but I have yet to do a major roadtrip with it yet, so I'll see how I like it. It looks flashy, which some may not like, but it's kinda cool to get the looks knowing that the Mercedes or BMW that is parked near it probably cost more.

I know someone that recently purchased a 23 Palisades Caligraphy and they love it. I’ve always liked the exterior of the Telluride and the interior of the Palisade. After the 23 updates I think the cheap plastic toy aesthetic on the Telluride killed my affinity for that vehicle. I now absolutely prefer the exterior of the Palisade. With that being said I would purchase the Telluride. I like the interior color choices better in that vehicle and the deal breaker for me is power folding mirrors. For whatever reason the Palisade is not offered with PFM. I would forego the free maintenance and more attractive looks for that reason. Someone from high school engineering please help show these two companies how to offer wireless CarPlay and Android Auto.

I test driven both Telluride and Palisade last month. I was initially into the Palisade, but after doing research I went and checked out the Telluride and I was completely blown away. I later drove the Palisades and still like the Telluride more. I can live with either. But I decided not to go with either at the moment 🙂

I've been in love with the Palisade since it came out, the Telluride same thing, but the new headlights really turned me off. I decided to get the 2023 Palisade Calligraphy instead, and I can tell you I am not regretting it one bit. I chose midnight cloud, but probably the robust green would've been the best choice, it looks amazing. Excellent review, guys.

The only issue I had was with the gas cap. After I filled up the tank for the first time, an error message popped up. Scared the heck out of me, but I took it to the dealership and they fixed it, no charge. Other than that, it's wonderful.

@@GM-zn2mz you will not regret it if you buy it. On my first week with it, I drove from Fl to Tn and back, it was so smooth. Last February I took her from FL to Georgia mountains, snow and all. It did not disappoint. Every 30 min the seat massaging you feel good, too. But that's just me blabbing. Give it a drive and find out yourself.

I own the burgundy palisade calligraphy. It’s truly a beautiful vehicle, couldn’t possibly be happier with the value for the money. It drives as though it should be an 80k Cadillac or Lexus for 30k cheaper. It can also handle a lot of different terrain. Snow is a non issue. Anyone who watches this video and is debating, you won’t lose with the palisade. Guaranteed. The telluride sure doesn’t seem like a loser either.

I was torn. At the end it came down to availablity and my dealer had a Palliisade Caligraphy inbound so I choose that and I am very happy. I would have taken the Kia without hesitation. Be aware that dealers jerk up the price by at least $3k and some try $10k and find buyers.

My wife has the 2020 Palisade and so far it is a great vehicle and handles the winter here in Massachusetts. Push button transmission took a little getting used to but not a dealbreaker at all. I have been thinking of getting a new vehicle for over a year now but thankfully I can wait till the prices and markups drop. I have been going back and forth on whether to buy an EV vs hybrid vs a conventional gas vehicle. I think the EVs have nice features but still need a little more reliability for the technology (lithium battery design for cold weather for example). There are new battery designs on the horizon (solid state type with greater capacity and shorter charging time) but this may be years off. I believe gas powered vehicles will be around longer because the infrastructure and logistics (battery recycling, etc) are not fully available yet. I am leaning towards either a hybrid or gas powered vehicle till things are sorted out in the next few years.

I have Telluride SX-Pro in white/terra cota (brown) interior coming in Feb and Palisade Limited in white w/beige interior arriving on Jan 16th. Initially I leaned toward the Palisade with the exterior, included maintenance and the Hyundai name, but was turned off by the interior and the shift buttons. However my wife loved the interior and hated the exterior due to hog like grill. I liked the interior of Telluride and my wife liked the exterior of it, and was leaning towards Telluride so we ordered both so we could choose, which is now going on a year. Now, after sitting in on the 2023, her opinion has completely changed to Palisade due to the refreshed front and the luxurious interior, despite the lustrous white with terra cota interior of Telluride and the better re- sale value. Oh and she doesn’t care for the exterior anymore compared to 2022. Since we have the same brown leather interior in our BMW, we may actually enjoy the beige interior of the Palisade. Oh and it’s also about $3k cheaper and has HUD as well which we’re used to where Telluride SX-Pro doesn’t! Really enjoyed your refreshing abbreviated POV on both of these hot mid size SUV, thanks!

I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with either of these vehicles. Having said that I just purchased the Telluride SX Prestige X-Pro. Got it in Glacier White w/black interior. It is sweet! Luckily I did not have to order it and did not pay above msrp. I definitely got very lucky.

I recently purchased the exact same car and colors as you did about 2 weeks ago. I'm not a fan of the chroming around the grill and other parts of the car so I am going to chrome delete the entire exterior, grill bumper badging

This was my favorite video comparing these two vehicles. Right on point with facts and impressions. Thank you for making it easy to compare. Our 2022 Telluride was recently totaled. We LOVED our Telluride but wanted to consider a few other SUVs including the Palisade. I think you really just need to see these cars in person because you will likely have an immediate response. We looked at the Tellurides SX Prestige X-Line or Pro trim levels and the Hyundai Calligraphy trim. To me, hands down, the Telluride is the classier car. It has an understated elegance that would be at home in, say, New England. It feels fully itself, not like it's the more modest cousin to another SUV. The Palisade tries hard to impress but, to me, comes off as over-the-top and busy, especially the interior. I can see my sister-in-law in Long Island driving this car. Showy and loud, it feels like a cheap imitation of a luxury SUV. Just my Western NY opinion.

I have a 2022 Palisade Calligraphy and have owned it for two trouble-free years. I love the light interior mine has, but I have the Midnight Blue exterior, which we are not crazy about as it looks black in almost every lighting condition. We have ONE complaint with it, which we knew before we bought it. No folding mirrors. It is unconscionable that a $55-$60K SUV doesn't have them...the Telluride DOES. Gas mileage is...meh (18 City and 24-25 hiway), but we also knew that before we bought. We have gotten completely used to the push button transmission selector. We are retirees, but it would be a PERFECT car for people with small kids (things like the driver-to-back-seat intercom, and TONS [13] USB ports. But it is comfortable, with a lot of legroom in the second-row captains seats, and even the third row isn't bad.

Purchased the new 23 Telluride SX X-Line and we absolutely LOVE IT. We negotited the markdown down from 7.5k to only 3k. After that it was a done deal. It looks more rugged, has a better interior, and we Love the 4 wheel lock, infotainment, wood like trim, black out package, diamond stitch napa leather, and 20 gold black wheels.

Good information. My wife and I are pretty serious about the Kia. The Hyundai just doesn't do it for us. Also, we like the SX X-Pro best. One of our current stable is a 2009 Kia Spectra. Good reliable and cheap transportation. Kia has come a long way.

All I know is if you drive on steep Rocky/sandy/muddy/slippery roads, videos of both of these performing in limited traction situations shows tires spinning, multiple attempts to get anywhere. Beautiful city cars, nice tech on each, but NOT to be depended on in bad weather.

I'm strongly leaning on purchasing a Palisade this year but I cannot stand that grill. It looks like a disco ball. That alone may drive me over to the Teluride. I also prefer the 18" rims on the Teluride for practical reasons- more sidewall absorbs more shock from potholes and such. I've seen too many 20" rims damaged beyond repair by one decent sized pothole.

Here's the 40-thousand-dollar question for CarGurus or anyone reading this: How good--really--is the build quality of either vehicle? I'm in the market for a 3-row...used...from say 2020 (the first year of either of these models) and I've done a ton of research. I love the styling and the tech compared to a Toyota Highlander. But knowing the history of quality when it comes to Toyota (vs. Hundai vs. KIA), I would feel much better buying a 3 year old Toyota with 50K on it than the other two. 100 vids watched about the Telluride and Palisade, they're all NEW and "how does it look", "how does it drive". Which is important. But "how's it after several years and a ton of miles on it"? Haven't seen those. Please give honest thoughts and feedback

I've been keeping an eye out for the perfect Palisade/Telluride, for a few years now. We have friends with a 2000 Palisade, and we've been on a few long day trips with them. Pretty nice for the price, BUT,,,, they both lack in things that I don't understand their reasoning for leaving out. First, the 2000 Palisade is my best example as I have driven and ridden in one for several thousand miles. 1) I do not like the road noise in the back seats. Some notice this more than others, but I notice it a lot. I have a heading condition that millions of others have, known as tinnitus. It makes understanding others difficult at times and in the back seat on a noisy highway is painful to me. This could easily be remedied with noise deadening spray-ons or insulation OR BOTH!! 2) I am not a fan of the LACK of towing capabilities. A) The frame on each is NOT built to accept a really good towing receiver. B) The factory, (dealer installed), receiver hangs way too low to the ground and is designed as more of an afterthought than an engineered or integrated part of the car. C) There is no trailer braking feature available for trailers with their own brakes. now I do understand that it's capabilities for towing are pretty limited, but for what reasons? I don't feel Hyundai/Kia gave a damn about it, OR they don't care to step into a much bigger market. Both seem backwards to me! D) The brakes system seems small in comparison to others. Of course I am looking at them from a towing needs view, but honestly, for what it would cost them to do the upgrades I want, would be negligible in comparison to the amount of people who I feel would now be buying this for it's looks, feel, price and versatility. So if the engineers were to ask me what i would change, I'd be pushing the towability to the 6500-7000 pound area, with programming for optimal trailering safety and experience. Others have it already and that is why I will probably be looking harder at a new Wagoneer. Their full frame with towing receiver (BUILT INTO) the frame, is outstanding. It's at the right height, (not like Kia,Hyundai). It's part of the frame, (not like Kia/Hyundai). It has trailer brake wiring, trailer brake control, trailer anti-sway control, trailer view and won't let you change lanes if anything is too close to the trailer. (Not like, well, you know). I have been the very happy owner of a 02' F250 Super Crew for most of it's years and miles, but I am getting older and not doing as much heavy towing anymore, so I'd love to move into today's technology and comfort, but to me, this feels like it's at a great cost. I am not alone either!!!! Lots of us TRUCK GUYS and GALS, want more comfort and today's gadgets and safety AND MILEAGE, but, want our other necessities as well... I hope Kia/Hyundai are listening and build what WE WANT.......... For now, I will look closer into the 24' Wagoneer or, as I have been doing, wait another year and see what they produce.... Ps. Hyundai Palisade really needs to offer the Kia seating..... Especially look deep at a more comfortable seat for those of us handicapped folks with bad backs and want to make long trips.... ;)

The Telluride interior reminds me of my husband's 2018 Sonata. I just purchased a 2020 Santa Fe Limited AWD, we did not need the 3rd row and the fuel economy on both of these vehicles is sub par in my mind. Love the design of the Palisade over the Telluride, but like I said we did not need a 3rd row so my Santa Fe fits our family perfectly.

I like the pallisade except one thing: the push button shifter. I prefer the traditional hand shifter than push buttons. I noticed you did not cover that in your review but if you are use to the hand shifter, the buttons look awkward.

The Pallisade still remains rather hideous, while the Telluride continues as one of the best looking SUVs on the road. It’s a much sharper, cleaner, and up to date look compared to the Pallisade. In regard to the amber DRLs being gone, get over it. While they were/are unique and attractive, they won’t age well. The new lighting design is a much more upscale look.. That metallic quilt grill on the front of the Pallisade looks absolutely terrible.

How do these two vehicles get so highly talked about, when they both have engine issues, electrical issues as well. I mean, the telluride doesn’t even come with a spare tire. Kia theory to not include a spare tire because they say it helps with better gas mileage. I’ve also researched where there are loopholes in there 10/100k warranty when it comes down to the engine breaking down as well as replacing the entire engine. Why would people buy these vehicles with engine failure?

didn't really tell me as a considering buyer what i needed to know. I wanted discussion on engine options, and the fuel consumption, I wanted to see tow features in use, I don't know anyone who uses a third row in daily life, cargo is preferred. I know the telluride has a power down for second row, does the Pallisade? what's the cargo room for both? do both have the HUD? What diagnostic fault systems do the vehicles have that the owner can understand if any? What second row seat options can i have if we don't want a third row (split options) Do the sunroofs have a hard cover over the top? Where was the spare wheel and tool storage viewing? I got to see the coffee cup holders but oh it has so much more, surely? Surprised that neither of you sat in the second row and showed leg and head height which was more relevant than the third row, (please give your height so we can judge for ourselves). Just a tip, when giving weight or measurement data, include the metric value, only one country in the world doesn't use the metric system despite adopting it around 1976. You are presenting on an international platform after all.

I have a 22 Telluride SX Prestige Nightfall and have the lovely Dune Brown interior. Looking at the 23s I would still choose the Telluride. I like the new double wide digital screens and I prefer the traditional transmission gearshift. When you need to make that quick 3 point turn, it is just superior. I probably would skip the X-Pro as I never go off road. The Palisade's luxury add ons of power-folding 3rd row seats and heating seem over the top and unnecessary. The added 3 cu ft of storage is more practical as a tradeoff. I do miss the amber DRLs on the Telluride.

Priced a Telluride last summer. Sticker was 52K, they wanted 72K. I couldn't leave quick enough!! Finally have a Palisade Calligraphy at MSRP and no market adjustments or mandatory add ons! paying less for a Pali Cali than for a Telluride with less features! Kia dealers better get their act together...

Very compelling options. I wish Hyundai had flipped the climate control and radio controls. I like on my Audi and Acura how the audio controls, which I do use a lot, are easily reached without having to extend my arm from the armrest. I'd love to have the volume control right where my hand naturally falls and to have the climate controls further away. Wish Kia hadn't messed with the grill. Also wish Hyundai and Kia had removable middle seat or at least the option of a bench on top trim levels. I need three across the middle and maximum cargo space sometimes so being fully stuck with a captains chair isn't ideal. That said most of the time I like to use three rows and have a pass through so a minivan style removable middle seat would be perfect.

As a luxury vehicle or as a want to be luxury vehicle I’m disappointing that the Palisade does not have dual exhaust. It’s also missing folding mirrors. These seem like no-brainers to add. And they don’t add a lot of cost either.

I have always liked the KIA Telluride, but with the refresh of the Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy, I’ve really fallen in love with the Palisade Calligraphy. But there is one hang up I have that would keep me from purchasing the Palisade Calligraphy, and it might be a minor issue to most people, but it’s a game changer for me…it’s that the Palisade does not have power folding outside mirrors, whereas the telluride does. I’m curious if anybody that has purchased the 2023 Palisade Calligraphy has has an issue not having outside power folding mirrors? On my current SUV, my outside mirrors fold in when I lock my vehicle, and that is such an awesome option to have. When my wife and I park our two SUV’s in our garage, being able to fold in the mirrors helps so much with extra room when walking in between the two SUV’s. Honestly, I can’t imagine not owning a vehicle where I couldn’t fold in my outside mirrors . Even at work, in my parking garage, it gives more room for people to walk in between my SUV and other vehicles when walking in between vehicles. I don’t understand why Hyundai didn’t incorporate power folding mirrors in the Palisade Calligraphy? I’d love a response back if somebody knows why Hyundai didn’t do that. Awesome comparison video. I was dead set on purchasing the Palisade. There was no rebates and depending on what you bought it might be above MSRP. The same dealer had a Dodge Jeep lot. I ended up getting a 67k Jeep Grand Cherokee 4XE (after tax credit and rebates for less than the trim level Palisade I was looking at. And got 4 wheel drive, best audio in the business, and nearly 400HP and 470 pound ft of torque

My daughter has the Telluride and it is a great car. It rides and looks like a luxury car. The Telluride might ne my next vehicle. Me and her both didn't like the Palisade. We both thought it wasn't a good looking car. It felt and looked, to us, like an old person car. The refresh looks worse than the original version. The Palisade is just not a good looking SUV. It's an old grandma and grandpa car.

I REALLY like both of these vehicles. Until the 2023 refresh I preferred the exterior of the Kia but the changes to the Kia completely turned me off. The new nose looks like something on a toy car from one of the dollar stores. Before the refresh I wanted to combine them because I preferred the exterior of the Kia but the interior of the Hyundai. Now if I were to buy one I would buy the Kia solely because the Hyundai doesn’t offer power folding mirrors and that’s a deal breaker for me in most vehicles let alone something this size. If the Hyundai offered the mirrors I would choose the Hyundai. I’m also disappointed in the audio system in the Hyundai. The system in the Stinger GT2 is 3-4 times better and I don’t know why Hyundai has chosen to cut corners here. All things considered I’d still take one of these over anything else in the segment without question. The value proposition is too good. Thanks for this detailed comparison.

We bought the 2023 KIA SX Prestige and if I could find one complaint I wish it had wireless Apple Carplay. Everything else is great! By the way we traded a Cadillac and believe that the Telluride is quieter and rides at least as good.

It’s funny they are referring to these as crossovers whereas here in Australia these are large SUVs. Our crossovers are much smaller , like Toyota CH-R, Honda HRV etc.

For me, that front end of the Palisade just looks cheap. I have never found lots of silver plastic to look anything but cheap. Would much rather it be blacked out with the fancy integrated lights.
