2024 Vauxhall Astra Hybrid Review: A worthwhile upgrade?

The Vauxhall Astra Hybrid is in fact really a mild hybrid. Launched for the 2024 model year, it features the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and 48-volt mild hybrid drivetrain as the smaller Corsa, but uses it to much better effect.

It's a car, not a big frumpy SUV, so it gets a 👍. Looks ok on the outside, but the interior looks a depressing place to be. I'd pay £20k tops for a petrol engine. They won't be getting my money.

It would be a good car but has two flaws: 1) engine pure tec - bad construction (not only wet timing belt), 2) too little space in the back.

They switched them to chain instead of wet belt since 2021

They NEED to do a GSi version of this as it’s a good looking car. 19” alloys, Recaros, vented discs with Brembos, a bright orange and bright yellow option paint job, 300bhp turbo manual and lowered 20mm. Sell it for £34,950 and job done……… I wish haha

I have the Astra 1.4 petrol turbo on a 16 plate with only 31,500 miles on the clock. Great car and engine.
