8:57 I was baffled by the guy with the coke but then I remembered that is where the battery is on those trucks. He's just cleaning his terminals. There are better ways of doing it but it works.

ive done it as a road side repair before, terminals were corroded and it didnt want to start, although found it still didnt want to start and found the starter wire corroded off as well from the starter, luckily i kept enough electrical repair stuff to fix it.

Or the car is burning oil, due to the problem either in the valve seals or the piston rings. Either way, might cost thousands of dollars to rebuild the engine, while pouring a cup of oil every fillup is cheap and easy. That's how here in Russia a lot of people live with their old Ladas that are burning oil.

@@RennieAsh Without the key in, the ignition and fuel system isn't working, it's just cranking the engine. Matt is right, that is a normal behavior of a relay.

Yeah. It’s about as spectacular as shorting out the starter solenoid with a screwdriver and getting it to turn that way. Actually, that’s more spectacular because usually there’s a bunch of sparks with it.

@@yonseth788 ever heard of a viscous coupling lmao? When the car is cold the fan barely spins and can be stopped by Hand. When its hot, the clutch engages and the fan spins alot faster and cant be stopped by hand.

2:20 isnt really a mechanically fail, it's how clutch fans work. If is not engage completly it's kinda just freewheeling you can stop it by hand I've done this before.

Except it should have more resistance than that is the point. Also putting your hand into a spinning blade with a working fan clutch? Enjoy the ER visit. While it should "free spin" when cold it should also have resistance to it...

almost all of the belt driven fans got a viscosity clutch witch will be engaged through a bimetalplate when it warms up ... all other fans are controlled by electronics

@@FakeJeep no when its disengaged the video is showing the right amount of resistance. I've done this to my car which has a new 100% correctly functioning fan. May depend on whether it's for a commercial vehicle or a civilian application

@@a0215b Im im the middle of turning a 2003 ranger into a mud truck. You really only need some proper tools and a little space if your lucky and vehicles are unsettlingly simple. Just start small and everything seems a lot simpler that looking at the whole vehicle.

That just proves the importance of making sure there is clearance between your exhaust and the plastic bumper. Plastic is flammable. Exhaust pipes are hot.

9:20 that is actually normal. Thing is, that is only the fuse for the starter. So u could clamp that fuse with pliers all day, but it's not gonna start unless u activate the fuel pump too.

9:12 This guy doesn't even know how relays work, I hope he just does oil changes and brakes. Any relay will do the same thing as long as you grab the casing like that so the jaw squeezes the ends of the coil together. One end of the coil has the load contact, that gets drawn in when the coil is energized by the control circuit. He's squeezing that connection together manually on the starter relay.

9:27 the car has a lot of moisture inside, put some silicone cat litter under the rugs and it will be ok. By the way, don't scratch the frost, just deftrost the window normally ant wipe the water with paper cloth, less mess.

Yikes, I tested a Bronco years back at an old lot I'd help at and when braking it would pull hard to the left. Slapped it on the lift and come to find the outside layer of the brake rotor had been worn so thin it separated from the disc and was just kind of jostling around freely. Hella dangerous to drive like that.
