I have a 2005 Tundra that I bought in 2009. It only has 78,000 miles on it and lives in my garage. In 13 years of ownership, the only thing I performed on it were fluid changes, tires and battery. It’s a beautiful truck and a keeper, although I would like to get a smaller truck for everyday usage.

we own a 2005 tacoma with almost 250k miles on it. Other than normal upkeep expenses, tires oil changes etc we haven't spent .05 cents on it, and it runs like a clock. We were offered 18k for it a couple of months ago but dang its a hard truck to sell being so reliable. Our last tacoma was a 1989 and we sold it with 250k in 2005. Crazy good trucks.

My 2007 Tacoma was so good that I ordered a new 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport. After waiting 5 months for it and getting it in August 2021, I drove it for 4 months and then sold it! It was not a good experience! The transmission was awful and the engine had no power. I had a chance to sell it and make money on it and have a 2022 Ranger on order. The Tacoma was highly disappointing.

I sold my 2005 with 205K miles, the battery was the only thing that I replaced besides the regular maintenance and tires. My 2016 was another story, gutless engine, gears too high, throttle response was unpredictable, sold it with 72K miles after the coolant by pass broke. Never left me stranded but, worst Toyota truck that I have owned since my 1961, Toyopet Stout

Toyota. People in my family are Loyal to Toyota and guarantee reliability. I had a 2011 Ranger a good truck ; 4x2, four cylinder. Ranger was great in the winter but on gas could not get $40 to the range of 90 miles while driving below the speed limit. I drive 12 Sonic, almost 11 years old but costly service, yet great on gas. Sonic on gas now is not that great from wear and age. Word of mouth only great news about Tacoma. In Ontario, Canada here, they cannot keep them on the lots for a long period of time. Seems like a great investment but question the gas prices, pending each to its own. Thanks CHC for your hard work!

I'm driving a 2003 Toyota Tundra Access Cab and love it very very much. I currently have 236000+ miles on the original motor and haven't done anything to the engine except general maintenance. I keep it up to date with everything has to be done take care of it. I expect to drive to at least 500000 miles. Basically the reason why I say that is simple. I owned a 1981 Honda Hatchback 5 speed standard transmission that when I sold it back to Honda 14 years later, it had 742443 miles on it. I replaced everything around the engine, but never touched the engine. In its last years that I owned it, I treated it like a small pickup. I wish I had back again. Just the same, I still love my Tundra.

I know that deep in my gut that the ridgeline is the best truck for my needs. I just can't get over the fact that almost all the drivers I see in a ridgeline are Old Guys. It a comfortable ride and can bring stuff from Lowes with ease. But I'm not an old guy yet!

I told them the other day: "I'm gonna be retired in a few years and you boys will still have a car payment, not to mention that what you're driving right now will be in the junkyard when this Ridgeline is reading 300K miles on its odometer". I’d probably wait on buying a new Tundra because it’s the first year. I see all the negative comments about the waste gate issue about the Tundra which is unfortunate but from what I can find it’s about 1/10th of a percent or a little more of the trucks sold. It’s not like every 1/5 truck is experiencing this problem. And it’s not like other manufacturers don’t have issue’s look at Chevy and their engine problems that was like 4% of owners had major engine failures according to consumer reports and these aren’t first year models either. I guess from my experience with Toyotas once they get this issue behind them their “overall” reliability with the Tundra will probably be at the top again if it isn’t already.

Only problem with Tacoma is last year and this year they are marked up 4-8k. Making what you ultimately pay not worth and just upgrade to full size. Out of the trucks listed only new frontier would be best value and features included for a true midsize. I will counter though that because they are newer the reliability may be in question when compared to Tacoma. Time will tell though.

I drive my trucks until they die and then I get a new one so I need something that will be reliable in the long term and will not cost me a ton of money. That, being said I wish i could still buy a new truck without all the fancy screens, and not needed stuff that they put on them to make them look fancy and drive the cost up. I've been thinking of getting a Tacoma but I've seen on discussion boards that the new ones have trouble with the transmission slipping out of gear while driving so I would like to know if anyone has experienced that. One thing that has been disappointingly missing for a long time is a decent warranty for all.

Yea are 100% correct in the 2007-2021 Toyota Tundras. But the new 2022 is not reliable. They screwed up and removed the most reliable full size truck motor ever made the 5.7 IForce V8 and replaced it with a turbo charged V6. The new motor is already having problems with the turbos. Guess they didn’t learn from Ford. There is no replacement for displacement.

The bed on the Maverick is simply too short. I have to have a 6’ bed or longer for the work that is required. Furthermore the unibody is too weak. The Tacoma does come in a 4dr but you can also get a 6’ bed.

This should read " Top 5 Little Trucks of 2022" little trucks don't do what I need my truck to do weekly.
@garyr2441 Жыл бұрын
I liked this post especially because when it .came down to his first choice it was what I have, Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro 2022 as he was right saying the interior is a little small, as that's what I complained about, the rear seat area is too small for my golden retriever Brandy, usually feeling sorry for her. And there's no vent directed towards her for me air conditioning, as my Toyota Avalon has these vents you can adjust, from the center'a two vents able to direct them left to right and up or down, and it's sturdy, not flimsy, but as the TRD Pro supports to be the top of all Toyota Tacomas why only the driver's seat is adjustable using electronics, and the passenger side completely manual? But it's a good looking truck but the metal is certainly not like 2007, and prior years, as I have drove for 52 plus years! Gary & Brandy, I bought that truck for #58,000 with 2pp miles, now at almost 1,000 miles, as it's certainly dependable not needing to think about roadside assistance!

You lost me at the Mavrick.. I honestly don't think you know what a truck is and what they are used for.

Why is the Maverick not a good option? I'm just curious.

The new ugly Tundra is having turbo issues coming from the factory 🏭 Hmm...🤔 Not very reliable 😉
@piratepete20222 жыл бұрын
The toyata is riding off a reputation they built years ago. The new ones are not built as good period . That thing Honda makes is far from a truck.

Sorry, but Tundra has turbo charger problem, and Tacoma has an uncomfortable seat.

The Taco? It's ancient on the inside, needs updating badly.

Won't matter if your priorities are reliability and resale value
@elche19762 жыл бұрын
@Car Help Corner meaning is great for off-road, but several others are better for daily driving. If you're just buying for resale value, are you buying for the right reason/ priorities? My current truck is 2005 and I certainly didn't buy it thinking how much I could get down the road.

Maverick and Ridgeline? Seriously man? Let me guess, in your next "Five best sports cars" video you'll have the Hyundai Elantra and Ford Focus, right? I thumbed this down because of that.
