A favorite memory is my mother giving me a small plate with boil yam (white one) and cassava with a scoop of salt butter. It has been many decades but I still crave it. That is what I think of whenever I hear comfort food because I was home sick and the steam cleared up my sinuses if only for a moment and I was able to taste. This dish is delicious with some salted pig tale and bake and a glass of cold strong ginger beer or mauby.

I totally love eddoes talkari (my mother made this, we call it eddoes stew, same thing, she’ll add some tomatoes, thyme and green onions). You’re right Chris… sada roti is the best accompaniment, with a hot cup of tea. I haven’t eaten this a long time. Thank for sharing and reminding me of this delicious meal. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Perfection! Thank you Chris - every dish of yours that I've tried is just spot on. I use plant based foods only, and my 'salt tofu' (marinaded in vegan 'fish sauce' and nori) worked so well with this.

I never heard of this particular recipe but we grew up eating talkari in uk. My family are from the Caribbean and we still enjoy Indian recipes passed down. Thanks Chris ☆
