A bad planning habit I had was copying everyone else. I thought planning the days had to look like .... When really I needed to figure out a system for me.

Yep, overplanning Mondays. I did it again to myself last week, so this week I was super-diligent about it. So far, so good.

Totally get you on the typing vs. writing thing. There are some things I prefer typing, but other times I NEED to write. Like you said, it's when my brain wants to process something. I'll often type a to-do list but then have to write it down if I'm feeling a little overwhelmed or like things are getting out of hand.

I get it too! Fortunately, I type super fast! I sometimes crank letters out on the typewriter instead of by hand because the perfectionist in me wants to keep correcting, and is easier to do on a typewriter.

My big, bad planning habit is that I plan to do craft projects, which I want to complete, then I find that when there is a project that I don't want to do , I will rationalize and replace it with a project that I like, telling myself that it is important too. I need to be sure to prioritize my projects as to ones that need to be done first. Martha

I had the same "overplanning Monday" habit. I took your idea so now I have a weekly chart. I just pick and choose, just get them done by the end of the week. Thanks.

Carie! Thanks so much for sharing your "bad" planning habits, and for pointing out that us planners need to strive to be okay with not getting through everything. :) When it comes to planning I also need to physically write out on paper so I can see it out. Great reminders. I enjoy your videos immensely! Keep posting.

Glad you're feeling better. Great video. I try to take one day a week for what I call a creative day. I do my priority tasks, but the rest of the day is for creativity. Or I'll save it for my weekly "artist date" and take an hour just for me and go somewhere and watercolor, write, read, or a combination. It really helps me keep from getting "burn out."

I always...ALWAYS plan way more than I can possibly accomplish! I'm working on correcting this. I suffer from IgA deficiency level 0. It continuously effects my health so I understand where you're coming from on the feeling Good vs the feeling bad. Hope you continue to improve. Thanks for your videos and encouragement.

I have tried many other options but my default seems to be a notes diary so I have finally committed, so much so that I purchased a River Song Fieldnotes journal cover. I am not all that busy now so a Notes Diary printed from a PDF I purchased from an Etsy shop serves me well. I have the month on two pages; followed by the bones of my organiser, the four weeks of that month; the week on the LHS for time, day and date sensitive entries; weekly to-dos on the notes page on the RHS, crossed off, dropped off or migrated to the next week; this, and next year's calendar each on one page at the back somewhere; a pen is clipped onto this week as a 'bookmark'; I fold the first and last page of a field note book in half, top to bottom, sticky tape it to the cover to make pockets for ephemera; a lined post-it note page trimmed to fit is stuck in for the grocery list. Minimalist planner here since I retired...when I get my TN cover I will add an insert for my Masterlist, Collections, Projects...maybe...maybe not.

this pretty muched summed up my bad planning habits as well, especially dumping everything on Monday (which I remedied the same way...weekly task list), putting stuff on dailies, that should be elsewhere (still working on this) and journaling/creating. I am a creative for pay, and by the time I get to me, I just am exhausted. Have no idea how to fix that.

That's a tough one. I know that sometimes I have to read more and journal less, or knit more and read less, or write more and research less. It's such a tough balance.

That was great! I took some really good notes to keep in my planner ideas section. Also, can I just say - what?!? FAFSA opens on October 1? Yes, I saw that little note to yourself and jotted that down on my future planning page for end of September. Totally didn't know that. Thanks, Carrie!
@CarieHarling

Yes, FAFSA for the 2017-18 school year opens on October 1, 2016, and will be opening on October 1 from here forward. One of many handy things I learned at Clayton's university orientation! They changed it so that people didn't have to fill out the FAFSA info with estimated tax info and then go back and re-enter the actual info.

So appreciate your videos and all of the work that goes into them. Thank you, Carie. I'm very new to this process and you've baby stepped me through via KZbin (sometimes I watch the same video twice). Prayers for continued health coming your way. I have been "journaling" on my dailies but I like the idea of doing it on the weekly. Easier to review and archive. One thing, why does a blank page paralyze me? Curious about what you think.
@CarieHarling

A blank page can still paralyze me, so I completely understand that. :) I've been sticking to nothing larger than Personal size for quite some time now, and that has helped *greatly*.

Hi Carie, mostly a slilent watcher of your videos though a big fan. Now I have a question: the two printers I have access to are both very bad in printing propper dublex, meaning the two sides never line up. Do you by any chance have a recomandation for a printer that behavers nicely on dublex printing?

My printer is an older Dell v725w. I had an HP printer that was *awful* with printing duplex, but I assumed that was just my particular printer.

Do you have one video that goes over the inserts that you use in your notebook?

My June 2016 setup video should have all of the inserts linked both in the description box and in the blog post; that video is available here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hKjPpIB5qJump6c

Background noise (cars swooshing by, ambulance siren, birds chirping) was distracting. Not a good idea.
