I was a caregiver for dementia clients and I totally understand your frustration and pain. Rule number one, never argue or disagree with someone who is suffering from this cruel disease, let them keep their pride and dignity regardless of what happens. They know that something isn’t quite right but they should always be treated as a human being and treated with love and respect. Xoxo love from New Zealand ❤

I cared fory partner's mother when she had alzheimers. It has a lot to do with accepting that they are not being "difficult" and that YOU have to change the way you think and deal with it. You can't react to a "lack.of reason" with reason. Knowing this made it easier. Two years after she died, my partner was diagnosed with end stage renal failure. I cared for him and he died three years later. All painful but growing experiences. ❤❤🌹🌹

I hope you don't experience any more loss, for a long time. It's depressing, when you're surrounded by death.

Sorry for you loss...my mom and I took care of my dad who had frontal lobe dementia, he passed away July 2022 and while it was difficult caring for him I don't regret one day that I did and in fact, I wish I could take care of him for one more day. When he did pass, he passed away at home where we felt he belonged and where he wanted to be. It was a two year battle from when he was diagnosed in October 2020 and it wasn't until September 2021 when we found a med that was able to control his aggression and psychosis (the drug was risperidone) and once that started working he was calm but the toughest part was the long nights because he called out a lot at all hours of the night so my mom and I took shifts caring for him overnights. If there anything good about his disease it's that unlike Alzheimer's my dad never lost his memory, he knew exactly who my mom and I were all the way until the end of his life and for that we're thankful.

So sad for both of you, I am in similar position with my sister….it’s been over 12 years, exhausting for everyone, especially her.
