9.93 and 9.92 were records after Ben got suspended (9.93 was a tie, 9.92 broke the record) and 9.86 was a huge improvement (from 9.90) that stood for 4 years. Carl has two Olympic golds in the 100m, and three world championships gold. The only two other sprinters with 3 WC golds in the 100m are Maurice Greene, and Usain Bolt. And Carl did it when there were FOUR years between each WC, as opposed to two which is how it is now. Carl is among the greatest sprinters of all time, and the long jumping GOAT without a doubt.

Usain Bolt was always like 7 inches taller than many if not all of his rival competitors, so his accomplishments were not to my mind as amazing as that of Carl Lewis. Carl was just slightly above average height, if at all, he was in fact shorter and much less muscular than Linford Christie. But Carl had that unrivalled perfect flawless loping long strided smoothness in finishing, especially in the last 25 to 40 metres, that nobody of his era could ever match. Nor has anybody else come anywhere near Carl in terms of sprinting finesse, balance and harmony, ever.

People just say stuff sometimes Lol. The best way to look at the significance of Carls 9.86 at 30 years old ......is that 9.86 would have placed 2nd in the last world championships in 2023, 1st in 2022, 2nd in 2019, and 1st in 2017. In fact, of the last 24 Olympics and world championships held since 1991, 9.86 would have gotten Carl Lewis either a gold or silver 18 times. 33 years later, 9.86 will still put you on the podium.
