I love this trio. This is one of my favorite cover of one of my top favorite songs of all time. Also I love youtube because it has so many gems by Carla Bley in it.

One of Tom's best tunes, played beautifully. I am sure he would have loved this - I know I do! How can Steve play that bass so fast?

@@MrCRESCENT40 Imagine these three doing a record called The Tom Jobim Songbook or something! It's a shame that Jobim is largely remembered for his Girl from Ipanema period because he went on to record Stone Rose, Matita Pere and Urubu, the latter two showing he was Brazil's greatest 'classical composer' since Villa Lobos and in which he wrote some heart-achingly beautiful and profound pieces. What I wouldn't give to hear Carla and co exploring some of these. Incidentally, Ryuichi Sakamoto, a friend of Jobin, visited his house very shortly after Tom passed away. The sheet music open on his untouched piano was a piece by Ravel. I think that's where his heart lay. best wishes from Tokyo💗

Their latest recording, "Life Goes On," is quite beautiful. Almost all ballads, some very dark, but beautiful nonetheless.
