Omg you've mentioned your sons in many videos, but this is the first time I'm seeing you all together. What a beautiful family, and watching you bond over food is very heartwarming. The only thing better than food is sharing food.

The dream shape for this (in my mind) was a giant, oversized orecchiette, but we couldn't find them! The shells were rad though

I had another recipe planned for tonight that included sausage, but fate would have it that I also had cauliflower and left over sourdough bread so now this is going to be on the menu for tonight!

also, I think your description is backwards (I swapped out sweet cauliflower (which is in season in the fall) in place of the more pungent broccoli rabe)

Thank you, Carla! I’m a pretty good cook but I’m always interested in learning and you have great, sensible techniques that are so different from how I’ve done things. I did a “spin” on this recipe tonight, using your methods it turned out awesome! If anyone is interested in my “spins”: ground beef + sausage spicing (fennel seed, dill seed, oregano, dried savoury, paprika, garlic powder), and orange zest and juice. Oh and leftover lettuce instead of parsley. Amazing ….

The lemon zest addition raises the flavor to another height… And I love Carlas epiphany of simple, one dish no bs let it brown!
@JeacoMeiyin2 жыл бұрын
Okay, first off a moment for the last shots of the three of you together. You look like you're all trying to not make the others laugh and only barely managing to do so. Second, that brown sausage deserves a moment of its own. And lastly, I have never wanted to be able to pull a dish through my screen more than this. Tender cauliflower, craggly hunks of sausage, chewy pasta and lemony breadcrumbs? Scandalously attractive.

The best family meal time recipes are the ones that you can customize to whatever you might have in the fridge or find at the market this day. This would be great with red pepper, spaghetti squash, and even grilled asparagus. (also, perfect because it has no kale in it) :-Þ
