Carlini's play is very unimaginative but clearly very effective. His play style revolves around maintaining a superior pawn structure while liquidating into the endgame. Was a little surprised that he gave Dave a passed pawn but Dave blundered it the next move so no harm there. I think Carlini is so confident in his endgame being far superior than Dave's that he doesn't mind simplifying into worse positions once in a while as he believes that he wins anyways as long as it's an endgame.

yeah I have also noticed that Carlini uses the same pawn structure when he plays in most of his games

It's blitz chess so he wants to keep things simple and not think too hard; if he gets stumped by a position he doesn't know then he runs out of time.

Hi. On 5:23, black's should not have played RxR. The winning move is Qb4. Now, if white plays QxQ, RxR check mate. If RXR OTOH, white loses the queen, and it's a won game. IF white moves his Rook out of the way say Rc1, black still plays QxQ and when RxQ, the black rook on e2 goes to e1 for checkmate. I thought Qa4, but white could still check and create an escape for his king with the tempo gained. So, black's best move is Qb4.
