I believe that any director who wants to make any action film should watch this scene every night before going to bed! The actors' expressions, the shots, the camera movements, the music... everything fits together perfectly! Sumptuous and masterful

This is one of the greatest sequences ever shot The chase and how it all leads to the climax The suspense They didn't opt for a big shoot out to end things They really took their time and built up to that point in a beautiful suspenseful way Carlito all alone with one clip and having to make it count when the time is just right. And they didn't forget that either cause with the last survivor on his tail after the clip was empty he needed a miracle. And he gets one in the form of the cops catching up to the guy It's a brilliant sequence

One of my favorite Al Pacino movie. Brilliant - all the actors. I really think that this is one of the best Sean Penn’s role. Of course, Al Pacino is the most talented actor of all times. I actually had a section of this book read by my students to trace the stages of the “fallen hero”, the man who fails because of his flaws and street code of honor.

This is Brian DePalma film. He is a unique director and one of the best of all time. The scenery and the people. You never know who might just appear out of the corner of the screen. Which made the ending that much bittersweet. A masterclass in film.

I have never seen this movie but a great fan of Al Pacino . My only issue is that he escapes the men hounding him and could have exited the station anytime anywhere but then goes back looking for them. Why then go back to the escalator when its a pinch point for everyone and let loose in the middle of the most crowded location .

The logistics of the shootout don’t work but it’s a cool scene. Look, if you’re lying down in an escalator and guys from above can’t see you or hit you, you can’t see or hit them either. Thats how it works. If anything it should be easier for them as they have higher ground, but there’s no way Pacino could shoot them with that kind of accuracy while lying down. He’s aiming up over his head, they’re standing up and pointing down. They can more easily duck in and out.

This chase scene reminds me of Collateral. While I admire Michael Mann as a great action director, nobody can beat De Palma when it comes to the sudden twist in a chase scene. From Blowout to Dressed to Kill to Sean Connery's scene in The Untouchables. However, I can't help but point out that this is a major spoiler -- and should have indicated that in the title. Or they should have at least edited it before that last scene.
