I got my order this week. I am impressed by the quality and fit. I like the different style of these over Mr. Lou. I was less impressed by the wait time of I believe 7 months. I asked early Jan. where they were at and I was told they were finishing them. Better than the Wesco wait time where I am still waiting for an order made in early Jan. 23. over a year ago.
@AKBRONCOSFAN00711 ай бұрын
I just picked up a pair of these Sunday in the Nick’s Quick Ship section. Based off the UPS tracking I should receive these Tuesday. I too ordered a pair of Wesco Mr. Lou’s boots in September and realistically don’t expect them until March 2025. I also ordered a standard Nick’s Pullman Engineer boot too prior to picking up this Carl M. collaboration boot. Curious as to the comfort level of the boot? Is this a boot someone can wear and be on their feet all day? It’d be interesting to know.
@timw822811 ай бұрын
I wouldn't count on March. All though they may regularly restock the Mr. Lou sizes listed for sale. I asked once and was told if you order you go on a waiting list if it is out of stock. I sent a pair of Jobmasters to rebuild in early Oct. They shipped them the other day due to arrive Monday.

Waxed calf is meant to hold a high shine while still being super hardy as it was intended originally for fox hunting boots, idk if I’d “patina” it. I think it’s a fun leather to shine and still be able to put through hell.

We used to have a Knapp shoe truck (like the library bookmobile) used to come to the plant and park on the docks. The Knapp guy had some deal with the company where we'd get a $50 voucher for his boots. 1980s dollars BTW. They were okay shoes but I never got a good fit for my size 13EEE feet with high arch/instep. Ill fitting safety toe shoes are a nightmare.

I have a small little engineer boot theory. Now mind you this theory stems from the many people I’ve heard say that they can never get an engineer fit correct, or they don’t match their feet, or they can’t find a pattern that looks right. This has led me to believe that the engineer boot has always been flawed. They go back to the 1800s but no one can exactly trace them back to a year or an inventor. I think they’re just inherently an imperfect design.

Is there any chance you could post photos of your greasers currently after time breaking in? I am on the list to get a pair of my own but a little skeptical on the buckle placement being too far over center of my ankle impinging when I crouch down. my alternative would be the built right boot. it looks like that buckle placement is further toward the side,but they don’t offer that in the rough out waxed flash. Quite the conundrum.

Have been researching and thinking about buying engineer boots for a while. I've considered WESCO, KNICKS, Role Club, JL's, etc... Then I ran into a NICKS email about this special collaboration (and limited production of 100 pairs) between C. Murawski and Nicks...There were 48/100 pairs when I opened the e-mail sent by NICKS. 3 hours later when I got home from a motorcycle ride... there were only 36/100..! it was then when I decided to pull the trigger. Didn't wanna risk it. these CM x Nicks engineers are the best in quality and design I've seen since I started looking into buying a pair. These boots are literally Flying .!!

These are interesting. I totally see where they were perfect for their era, but at the same time they look like Santa's boots. Which makes sense, since Santa has a classic look rooted in much simpler times. That said, these will also be great for those who moonlight as Santa around Christmas time.

In 1985, a union construction worker in New York City was around $19/hr. Non-union was around $7 in most places. I was a kid back then but knew a lot of construction workers through friends and family.
@strengthandbulkMadness Жыл бұрын
Also, the economy got weird in the 90s so wages didn’t really go up much if you weren’t union. That was around the time people started coming in south of the border which lead to cheap labor. Luckily, computers were booming at the time but that industry changed too.

Public service announcement to anyone who ordered these: According to NICKS, these are not rebuildable. Which, when I ordered my pair, no one mentioned. As of this writing, their "Pullman" model, which is the exact same model as this collab, is still marked as rebuildable. But I heard from their YT channel, and just confirmed via email with them, that it is not. In my opinion, this changes the value proposition of this boot. And, not gonna lie, I feel pretty dupped. Like they bait and switched me. My boots are marked "started" by the way. And now I'm seriously considering cancelling my order on principle.

I’m curious to the size you ordered and if you cancelled your order. I just picked up a pair of these in 11D from Nick’s Quick Ship Section and I’m stoked. I also ordered a pair of the Pullman Engineer boots as well with the Black WeatherGuard leather right around Halloween. I expect to receive those boots sometime in April possibly into May. I’m not real hard on boots, hell I have a pair of Justin lace ups my mother purchased for me in 1996. Granted they have been re-soled. Anyhow I’m excited to get the boots and I’m not as concerned with not being rebuildable, however, aesthetically I hope they look good with my Wranglers and they’re comfortable to walk in. Time will tell the tale.
