Thank you so much, USOpen, for this upload. Unlike all the other tennis slams, you give your fans what they want 🤩

Happy to see this game here. Impressive focus and play by vd Zandschulp. Backed by the #1 fighting spirit dutch coach, who won 5-setters against several of the worlds greatest. Top-20 level play after a very difficult year. - These past few months have been tough for Alcaraz. Reaching so many finals have meant little rest. Djokovic also went out early, having played Alcaraz in two of these finals.

People saying Alcaraz fully deserved to lose need to be stopped, great match for Van De Zandschulp and sorry for Alcaraz, match was fair and there's nothing more, no need to say someone deserved to win or lose, just ability.

Haters gonna hate, I'm willing to bet that a majority of the people happy to see him lose are about his age. 😄 What those people don't realise is that losing makes him stronger. It's easier emotionally, to win.

Alcaraz a lezione di tennis da Botic: a lezione anche di eleganza! Complimenti all' olandese, sempre elegante e brillante.

Apart from being a great player, what a totally true gent in victory Botic is; no fist pumping, no jumping in the air in triumph in front of his vanquished opponent, just a nod and handshake to him at the net, followed by a tap on his racquet to the crowd. Bravo.

Yeah, the guy has a lot of class and respect for his opponents. VDZ played an incredible match. I’d love to see him go all the way here and in other tournaments next year. Go VDZ!

Botic played the match of his career here, but didn't do so in an unsustainable manner. Botic never seemed to be playing out of his skin to win. Just beautiful attacking tennis the likes of which Shelton completely went away from when facing Frances. Even Serverev came to net more than Shelton did. You can't win if you don't come to net. Yes, you can hit winners from the baseline, but tennis was always designed for points to be quick and finished either with the serve itself (ace) or at the net. All these extended baseline rallies are really about surface speed and less about how the game was originally designed to be played. Make tennis fast again.

@@tomsawyer2112 Another social media smart aleck, go figure. Tennis is older than their heydays. All three were primarily clay dominant. None won all four Slams. Borg retired very young. Even Nadal was plagued with countless injuries across his career. Just because a player can be successful with an effortful game doesn't make it sustainable or true to the original intention & form of the game.

As to the elbow position during the Serve, you've got it dead wrong. Pete Sampras and Serena Williams, the king and queen of efficient serving had the elbow way down low, just before they went up to the ball and whipped it the best serves ever, with a few exceptions, such as Goran Invanisevic, who also had the elbow very low, and somewhat behind the body, and then went UP to the ball. No kidding. Just watch it. The 'trophy position' works, but not at world class level.

even 21 year olds who have zero going on in their lives are cocky ☺ At least Alcaraz has something to be cocky about (IF he is cocky). I like the way he plays, he doesn't get down on himself, or get angry, I prefer his way of dealing with losing.

And you need to calm down. How can you say that he « fully deserved to lose » ? It happens that players come to the match unprepared and end up loosing it but in no way it’s a motive to deserve to lose. You don’t even know why he was laughing but you can certainly guess why he was laughing like that, disagreeing would just be mala fé. And to the other idiot saying that he became arrogant : you’re just a jealous person. It’s obvious that you don’t know the character Carlos Alcaraz because he has always been like that on the court. He was obviously struggling and that’s okay, it happens.

Some unkind comments here. Everyone has their off days. Personally I cannot understand why the tournament has them play so late - it was after 9pm at night that this game started! These are elite athletes, not film stars. Its all about the $$$ and drawing the crowds. People would be drawn to watch Alcaraz, as am I ... I noticed Sinner's games were at a much more respectable hour. Its no wonder Alcaraz lost. And the tournament is the poorer for it, out in the 2nd round! So blame the tournament I say. No dis to the Dutchman. 🙂
