300 like is from me. haha and i agree, i didnt se this kinde of athleticism from early days of tenis, and tecnology is now beather than ever, so i think he have 15 years of tenis on this level, and i see him he beat all records from roger nadal novak, because he got everything to that. and i hope he do that, because GS titles are just numbers, and we need players who will beat records, that makes sport fan and entertaining.

The most amazing part to me is that Alcaraz defied so many statistics - djokovic being 47-1 after winning first set, djokovic not losing at Wimbledon for years, djokovic having a 14 winning streak in tiebreaks - on a surface where he has only played 4 tournaments. At Wimbledon. The final. Against a GOAT. He has no right to be this mentally strong at his age. Future goat right here 🔥
@FootkerSnookball
@FootkerSnookball Жыл бұрын
Yeah but he was still seeded 1 which means he's expected to win before the tournament so I don't get why so many people were doubtful?? Although I do get that playing Djokovic was a tough task. I thought Alcaraz would win this Wimbledon because I saw not only his seedings & rankings was very similar to Lleyton Hewitt in 2001 & 2002 but his pattern in grand slams as well, the slight difference is that Alcaraz 1 year younger than Hewitt at the time....and of course he'll win a lot more slams than Hewitt who peaked early and never won a slam again but didn't have as many weapons to dominate like Alcaraz can.
@lordzutroy8465
@lordzutroy8465 Жыл бұрын
@@FootkerSnookball The Seedings are just reflecting the ATP Rankings.. But Alcaraz surely was one of the favorites after playing pretty well on Grass before Wimbledon. Hewitt Reference is a bit arkward. Alcaraz is on a completly different level than Hewiit has ever been.

I disagree. Mentality many times is fully prepped at young age. Ans a tennis player ages faster , at 20 he is mature. About mentality the greay part is that he want it now. He doesnt think it is fine I will win next time Am young, he wants it now. This is the great point on mentality. He is not ok with grand slam final after 6 grads matches on total he feela it is owed to him sjnce long time. This is the great point. But It is not the mentality that is the great point, it is the completeness of game, which means all aspects were developed with attention aimce start without vhoosing some parts of game. Only part was the serve which howevr in last 1.5 yeara is also excellent now
@kavishkabartlett4261
@kavishkabartlett4261 Жыл бұрын
@@FootkerSnookball the only reason he was seeded first was because he’s been playing in more tournaments than Djokovic. Djokovic won Rolland Garros and Australian open this year - the ranking may not have him at number 1 but he was the consensus #1. If he played one more tournament he would’ve had the ranking as well. And it’s not just playing Djokovic is tough, it’s playing Djokovic knowing he has not lost at Wimbledon since 2013.
@kavishkabartlett4261
@kavishkabartlett4261 Жыл бұрын
@@innosanto I disagree. Mentality is often undervalued but it plays a huge role. Players the age of alcaraz often have the talents to win but don’t have the mentality. Look at Rune or Sinner - both amazing players who should have more titles to their name but they always choke.

Alcaraz Changing tactics from second set. Instead of flat overhitting, he put heavy topspin forehands, variety, extended rallies. He wore down Novak's forehand in forehand duels. And in last game dared to lob and volley. Ice in veins.
@Hic_Rhodus

Yes. Also... in the 1st set Alcatraz (perhaps because he was nervous) remained a bit more passive in the rallies. It was as if his emphasis was on making sure he didn't make any silly unforced errors. When that didn't work, from the 2nd set on, he committed to pushing closer to the lines... making many many more aggressive attempted winners ...and pulling off a variety of risky drop shots and wrong-footing changes of direction. All those slowly seemed to wear Djokovic down until they finally broke him physically as well as mentally.

I think it was more to do with nerves of playing his first final at wimbledon , the stage and the setting got to him . Once he settled in, he was able to put the stage and the setting behind and play it like any other match . He did get jittery towards the end of the fifth which tells us how much being in the final at center court plays in your head but he came clutch and closed it out I don’t know of any player who clinched their first wimbledon at their first attempt on center court . Oh wait, roger also did it in 2003 :) But yes, it is insanely difficult neigh impossible to win on your first attempt and he did it!

Admittedly, I haven't watched much tennis in recent years...but after reading about this match, I wanted to see the highlights. Honestly, I'm blown away by these two and the absolute brilliance of their play. It's almost inconceivable to me that two players could sustain this level of precision, physical effort, and mental sharpness over the length of this match. I'm sorry, but there's no other skill sport that even vaguely compares to this range of athleticism throughout a contest. Most striking to me was the mental tenacity and strategic sharpness of these two players. Sure, making some of these shots physically was impressive, but the moves and counter moves on some of the points-while playing at maximum physical effort-was beyond anything I've seen in any other sport for a long time. I might just be becoming a tennis fan with Alcaraz's career ahead of him. Here's hoping he continues to have opponents worthy of him.

Carlos is an absolutely special player; he has an unrivalled combination of precocious mental resilience, physical strength, blinding speed, awesome versatility - both in shot variety and surface adaptability - boldness and incredible agility (balance and coordination). The way he fought back after the first set against this past decade's King of Wimbledon and one of the all-time greats was truly inspiring. Some of his steely looks of determination at the most clutch moments of the match were very reminiscent of those from his rival across the net; especially Novak's famous "I may lose but I'll never be conquered" grin and nod when down 15-40 and 3-5 in the 5th set of the 2011 USO SF vs Federer. Sorry to Novak's fans, it must be a painful one to lose, but there's a bit of karmic balancing with a number of supremely close Wimbledon epics he wound up on the winning side of (2018 SF vs Rafa, 2014 and 2019 Fs vs Roger).

VERY similar to the championship point Federer lost in 2019 (only Djokovic's cross-court was a backhand). Unlike Federer, Alcaraz positioned himself on the center line, allowing him to lunge for the winning volley.

Raducanu winning the US Open... During a Pandemic.. Was a joke. She will never be heard of again... Her Fluke Win. With no real top players... Add to that her Ego. Arrogance and the foolish British Press... They fed her Ego. Now nobody cares who she is. Because Real champs last...she should learn how to play and behave and be mature. Humble.. Copy Alcaraz ...thats a real champion... But it's too late for the poor lady. Now even players above rank 500 can demolish Her. She really has no game worth watching. Look at all the top 10 Women's players now.. Post pandemic... They would badger Her 6-0..6-0..

Novak has always not been great dealing with higher balls, like smashes and shots like this. It's a huge miss in the context of the match and the championship. Earlier in the second set tie break he also missed a relatively simple backhand at set point. These points were pivotal.
