Carl is crushing his first few plays! Loving seeing his brain at work. I wish I'd kept the seed, but I once had an Ironclad run where a combination of early Peace Pipe and then buying Unceasing Top led to me purging cards at Campfires until I had a 3-card deck. My only cards were Impervious+ (2-Cost, gain 40 Block, exhaust), Rage+ (0-Cost, gain 5 block each time you play an attack card), and Body Slam+ (0-Cost, deal damage equal to your block). Turn-1 Inifinite damage against everything except Time Eater

I just picked this up after watching the first 2 episodes. 0-3 with the Ironclad and died to the same level 3 boss as Carl in his first run. Some hard luck aside, it's super fun!

@sannice The game trains you to get better at it, and you unlock more powerful cards as you play and lose. I'm now consistently making it deep into the 3rd act with some more losses to the final boss. However, I just had a super cursed run and got bodied by the 2nd act boss. The failures make the victories that much sweeter, though. You should pick it up for sure.

There's a mod on the steam workshop that gives the Ironclad a hat, and changes his name to Ironchad, thought you might want to know.

@Nikowo1610 yeah im almost towards the end of the run but I feel like it was a good guess lol. I think it could have become one if he saw claw earlier but by the time he saw a claw he was already decently invested in orbs. With the top and the all for ones he got offered there was potential for a decent claw deck.

There's 2 requirements to unlock Watcher: Have Defect unlocked, and win a run. In the last video, he won with the Silent. Since he was playing Silent, it unlocked Defect. That fulfills both conditions for the Watcher.

@@alicetheaxolotl Ye but if you check his last video where he goes to make a 3rd run at the end, it's still locked. In this video it's not. So i think he played offstream... Edit: "The Watcher is unlocked by completing an unseeded run with any character (defeating Act 3 boss) while having the Defect unlocked." From wiki so he did indeed play more after he unlocked the defect. Since he only just unlocked the defect during his 2nd run. So he then needed to win again with either of the 3. Not that big of a deal, but i value honesty.

I was really enjoying ocarina as well! Having a totally blind play through was just great! I haven’t played ocarina since I was a kid, and having him miss stuff I remember missing as a kid, or struggling with puzzles, or even seeing how easy some of the puzzles actually are, is so much fun to watch Carl go through! I’m so sad people can’t just watch and not give hints and spoilers

Each character has three intended archetypes as to how to play it. And the relics and cards you acquire have hidden point values that the game uses to measure how far along each archetype path you are, and it notes which cards and relics you refuse. This actually buffs your chances of finding even more stuff that supports the archetype you're trying to go with, and give you the build you want. And then the best part of Slay the Spire is that because it knows what you're doing, then it gives you which of the three bosses is specifically designed to hose whatever nonsensical bullshit it just watched you build.
