I love Magnus's "sporting qualities" (a phrase he used this week in praising Abdusattorov). Against players he respects, he WANTS daring, fighting games.

I'm definitely starting out my chess journey but love watching these guys every time; this tournament has been amazing. I know these super-GMs are absolutely phenomenal calculators, but seeing David Howell and the gang, and now yourself show how Magnus calculated the perpetual check is the most stark example of calculation I've seen. Even more impressive as it was for the draw. It blew my tiny mind!

I watched this game and even with the announcers saying what Magnus was doing I just couldn’t see it. How the hell does he even think of that?
@Joshwaheazo
@Joshwaheazo 5 ай бұрын
I probably wouldn't see it but when somebody points out the rook. Covering one of two king squares it's quite obvious that the knight can force a draw. It's kind of impressive when you smell blood like that to find the safe draw though and just drop the best moves.

@@JoshwaheazoIts reasonable to think that Knight can do a perpetual when the eval bar shows it and the rook is visibly cutting King moves, and thw comentators, the hard part is doing it while suffering mate attacks and with such accuracy in very short time

@@juliocadavid6640 I know I said I wouldn't have seen it dude. Haha and said when someone pointed out the rook. I didn't say it was easy but I understand how he saw it. Your always going to look at knight attacking the queen, it's an one of the three two candidate moves. It's sacing the queen that's the hard part of that sequence. I would never even look at that it looks stupid.

@@Joshwaheazo Yeah wasnt being mean, i was just agreeing with you haha it normally isnt that hard to understand the key moves when eval shows us a blunder or the typical puzzles. Yet here it was a bit hard to understand how to do it, i could see the perpetual when comentators said there was a perpetual, in my case, but i didnt know how was possible to know that Qg7 leads to it

Is it possible to adjust engine parameters to take into account that this is armageddon game and goals are not same as regular chess? It would be usefull to show evaluations for that also.

Fabi started a brutal attack only to cop out with that knight move backwards trying to save it was kind of counterintuitive . Once he backed off his pieces were left to be hunted down .he gave magnus a breather . Shame the attack fizzled b4 becoming a masterpiece

Gm Magnus Carlsen is not called the G.O.A.T. for nothing ... he came back winning by trailing 1- 2 , after he equalized .the score 2-2 and then in the armageddon game being less than 6 minutes than Fabi ....he managed to win the game anyway .... the G.O.A.T stroke again ... !!! ... WOW ... GENIOUS PLAY

Am I reading this wrong? It looks to me like Magnus took 6 minutes to play C5 in response to e4. Is that right? That might be the most amazing thing about this game (if it's right).

And then people really wonder why Magnus felt Hans was cheating. Magnus is way ahead of anybody else, if he sensed that Hans was playing weirdly and we add the controversial review Hans did about his game later on where he couldnt explain the moves then I am sorry for Hans but I think he cheated even if maybe only that time to get attention, sponsors, fame
