She was 27 when she performed in that concert…..It’s was real, it was visceral, it was pure, no pretense, authentic!! I got chills watching this….. one spot, no choreographed dance troops, no sequences, real instruments, no acrobatics and revolving stages and platforms, no auto tune (not needed), and yet the audience was transfixed, completely involved in the performance…..

Yeah, apparently, a song about the kind of social situation, the upper class life that Carly herself grew up in. The beautiful young debutante daughters who went to all the prestigious colleges mostly to look for young, potentially rich husbands coming out into Society, launched by their families. So many, like the girl in the song, dreaded it, but that was the way it was, so she resigned herself to it.

I was lucky that I went to high school in the mid-70s; there was so much good popular music on the radio during those years. Simon, Carole King, James Taylor, Cat Stevens, Gordon Lightfoot, Janis Ian, Phoebe Snow, the list just goes on and on. And all so distinctive --- nobody else sounds like Carly Simon, Stevens, any of the others. Nobody like 'em today.

And the best part back then was, you had no diversions when you went to see a concert. No friggin' I-phones or selfies, just pure enjoyment of the act. Then afterwards, we'd go to a house party, and anyone who went was abuzz with their experience. And we'd play the artist on the turntable (yes, a turntable-and we'd hold the cover and comment on the picture or design of the cover) over and over. Good times. RIP Johnny Boy (best party's)

My God, she is the most beautiful, talented woman, that has ever sat at a piano, this song takes me right back.... Mid 70s. Life was much, much simpler.... Just sayin.

You're damn right Joe. Then everyone made it so damn complicated.

Eileen Joyce. And she’s just one example of a more “talented” piano player. Carly is prodigiously talented. But what Eileen Joyce was doing was something totally different, way more complex, etc... still, I’m pretty sure we can say, beyond any shadow of a doubt, that just citing this one example disproves your “hype”. I love Carly, and I know she was stunningly gorgeous. But she’s just one of many.

No, humans were just as complicated then, as now. I think I know what you’re trying to say. You’re wrong, but I understand

@@tombrown8829 IMO Carol King's "Tapestry" album was the greatest album ever made by a solo female artist. Even the "Stoner's" had a copy of the 8-track in their boxes.

Wow! Always knew Carly Simon had one of the greatest singing voices in America history but forgot she is also among the most beautiful singers as well.

Oh, Carly, your voice is like silk. The way you go up and down in melody, brings chills to my spine. God bless you and your wonderful voice.
