The corruption and unadulterated commercialization of the music industry allow brilliant gems like this go almost completely unnoticed. I'm so thankful that I've often chosen the 'path less travelled.' Like one of those magical sunsets that happen and you look around and most people aren't noticing it; this is a masterpiece.

Today I sat beside my 29 year old nephew’s grave at the Veteran’s Cemetery. Six years ago today he passed. Adam was always a ray of sunshine. Played others’ requests for songs in his memory. This song is my request. Carly has taken me through the good and bad, always a mainstay in much of my journeys throughout life. My nephew’s spirit will always be with us. Touched by the sun!! 💙😇🦋☀️

Carly wrote the song for her friend, Jacquelin Kennedy Onasis, when Jackie was diagnosed with a terminal disease. The song has gone on to inspire many of us to reach higher and work harder at our art, whatever your art may be. I love Carly Simon. Always have, always will.

It was non-Hodgkin lymphoma a form of Blood Cancer that took Jackie Kennedy Onassis' life. Her passing was a blow to Carly and to us as Kennedy fans. This has to be the best tribute Carly has done

I just finished reading Carly’s book Touched by the Sun about her friendship with Jackie Kennedy, who she wrote this song for. You’ll find some videos of Carly’s concert in Grand Central Station, inspired by Jackie who worked to save the building. Jackie suggested the concert,, but it only happened after Jackie’s death.

Did you know she wrote this song dedicated to her dear friend Jackie O ❗ I just found her book ,by the same name at a "Dollar Tree" store of all places. She and Jackie met in Martha's Vineyard.Their friendship spanned a decade until Jackie died. The book was wonderful. Of course she's a great writer. If you can find the book...please grab it. It's delightful.

If you want to be brave And reach for the top of the sky And the farthest point on the horizon Do you know who you’ll meet there Great soldiers and seafarers Artists and dreamers Who need to be close, close to the light They need to be in danger of burning by fire And I, I want to get there I, I want to be one One who is touched by the sun One who is touched by the sun Often I want to walk The safe side of the street And lull myself to sleep And dull my pain But deep down inside I know I’ve got to learn from the greats Earn my right to be living Let my wings of desire Soar over the night I need to let them say “She must have been mad” And I, I want to get there I, I want to be one One who is touched by the sun One who is touched by the sun I’ve got to learn from the greats Earn my right to be living With every breath that I take Every heartbeat I want to get there I want to be one One who is touched by the sun One who is touched by the sun-“ TOUCHED BY THE SUN” Carly Simon & Friends

you so channel the feelings of many of us, better to die in a tumble of sparks than of slow decay...death in combat is desirable compared to old age.....thank you Miss Carly, from those of us who live our lives close to the sun....i plan to play this at my fathers funeral service as his demise is sadly expected in the next few weeks. watching it has given me motivation to find new ways to serve my community that might bring me closer to the edge, the fire, so that perhaps i might find the cleaner death, that sadly my father(a braver man never drew breath) was not afforded.

I have no idea who you are or what is the meaning of your remark directed towards me. I would recommend "Us and Them" by Pink Floyd and Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton, "Romeo and Juliet," to contemplate the utter meaningless of a world without God. In the words of the replicant in Blade Runner: "I have seen worlds that you cannot imagine." Those who die without God will experience worlds they could never have imagined in their worst dreams
