BMW 840d coupe review (2019), better than a Tesla?

Review of the NEW 2019 BMW 8 series (840d) coupe.
A worthy replacement for the 640d coupe?
Blown away by the straight-line capability and agility in the corners.
An absolute tech fest full of nifty gadgets and superior luxury. I was lucky enough to spend a week with the car which is new here in the UK as of March 2019 and this is my review and thoughts for your consumption.
The real question to answer though; is she a worthy replacement for the 640d coupe which she replaces and would I part with the funds to drive one, would you consider this over a Tesla, Mercedes or Audi equivalent... ???

How did you wiggle your way into one of these for the week!! Id love me a nice loan car! Looks the nuts but I think these are way too much for what they are. No doubt they will tank in value and end up a great proposition in couple of years much like the 640d.

How does the engine compare to your 640d?

Engine seems slightly more "engaged". I think this is more down to the car though. Lighter, shorter and wider with rear wheel steering and active m differential makes for an incredible overall drive.

@@CarMadDad Jajaja.. Gracias Amigo.. You still produced a better video than I could have done...!! Must admit that, I have always been more of a "Merc. Man " than a "Beemer Boy", but the new B.M.W. 840d Convertible may just change that(well I live on Spain's Mediterranean coast..!). For me, more than adequate performance and let's face it, for most, hard to argue with those fuel consumption figures. You may laugh at this, but having additional area behind the front seats, even if used solely for occasional luggage makes a difference. Also I like the fact that BMW still has a consol mounted "gear" selector..! Mercedes now only offers that on their rank 2 seater "SL" series. Porsche may offer it also but too much of an out and out sports car, for my needs.To me, one only has a "column" shift on a "2 or 4 Door Saloon"...!

Why do you car reviewers keep doing this “sounds so good for a diesel”’ it’s active sound, you should know this by now you have it in your six! It’s fake/synthetic sound piped into the cabin!!!! It will still always sound like a diesel!

Make sure you listen for the external shot of the car - sounds good outside as well. I know all to well that the sound is pumped into the cabin - BMW feel it necessary to do this on even my M Car. I’ll keep an eye out for your car reviews where you make this crystal clear

Car Mad Dad no need to be shitty about it. You are the car reviewer here, I would have thought that the people watching your content would want you to be factual. I’ve driven one of these and heard it from the outside it still sounds like a diesel (I have owned a 640d) , it always will. Even with a decat & aftermarket pipes it will still always sound like a diesel.

@@Osmosis909 Not being "shitty" with you - the statements made in my video are my opinion - and in my opinion, the car sounds good for a diesel. Certainly sounds better than my old VW Golf TDi... It is not factual statement I am making and is entirely subjective. Top marks to you for spotting it sounds like a diesel though - you clearly know your internal combustion. If you want a factual review with no personal opinion - feel free to hit up another channel that is sponsored and paid for by the manufacturer. Enjoy
