CarMax Bought my Problem Land Rover, The Nightmare is Over.

After 2 years of ownership and 222 days in service over those 2 years. I decided to get out of my 2017 HSE Lux TD6 Discovery 5. I had high hopes for this truck but it just didn't pan out. I decided to unload my problem onto CarMax. The disco had just came out of service with warranty work done on the turbo and was continuing to have issues with the transfer case. I had enough of the stress and used the instant offer feature on the carmax.com website and brought that to the closest dealer. its a pretty cool process. They did cost me about $3k dollars though but in the end I got more than i expected and it allowed to me to part ways with the disco without much fuss. I did have to do this trip twice but I would expect nothing else from this Nightmare Discovery 5.

LOL I want the Land rover Discovery 3, It is old but I find them less complicated and more reliable. Choosing the right one by checking it before is the right way to go. We do not want our vehicle to see a garage. We will learn to do all maintenance and repairs ourselves @@Wheel2LiveOffRoad

You keep banging on about alllll the problems, sounds like you had two, that didn't get picked up by incompetent main dealers, not exactly end of the world stuff

Well. It was under warranty. I can go on about as I wish. Yes main dealer should have had it fixed from the jump but didn’t or couldn’t for whatever reason. Many have found it helpful especially when faced with the same issues from negligent dealers.

I'm not a fan of the smaller discoveries or the evoque but I know they have to make them. I just don't think they brought their best design for the Disco 5. The styling should be closer to what the new Defender looks like. Instead, we got something that looks indistinguishable from almost every other SUV on the road. Im a Land Rover fan but they could have done better.

@Wheel2LiveOutdoors agreed. I meant to say they aren't as good lol 😆 offroad wise, I do not like the air/independent suspension. They're decent on road and maybe light offroad use but the electrical issues on the newer ones Is what would make me think twice about taking it offroading. Traction control works flawlessly until it doesn't. Plus, design wise, i feel they've lost their soul. The designs are overly rounded and aerodynamically smoothed. No one buying a landrover in general is buying it because of its fuel efficiency. It's a travesty what they did to the new defender.. no v8 option in the first model. Another rounded design, it looks more how the discovery should have looked in the latest generation. JLR has lost its design touch.. if you look at any new jeep. It's instantly recognized as a jeep, any G Wagon, as a Mercedes suv. Now when you look at the JLR range of vehicles atleast if I didn't know any better mistake it for a Ford explorer with a body kit. Or some of the dozen other cookie cutters crossover eggshaped Suvs out there.

So hard to let a Land Rover go when you are bonded to the brand. We all seem to hang on as long as possible. I own an LS Swapped disco 2 and 16 LR4. Sometimes I just want to unload them but can’t 😂

I love it. It’s a disease. I catch myself searching Facebook marketplace looking for a rescue all the time. I mean I know better but the Landys just suck me in. How is your LS swap going? Any issues?

@@Wheel2LiveOffRoad I have it for about 2 years now. Lots of wheeling out west in utah, Colorado, Arizona and Wyoming. It’s done great. Some minor issues it still has a LR soul after all! 😀. But nothing serious.

They are awesome when they are at a 100% that’s for sure. I love the brand but that one was a mistake.
