Being a rec hooper living in NYC in ‘04, this was a MISERABLE summer. Ricans you’d never seen hooping, was showing up to the courts en masse with whole squad, talking crazy, trying to be Carlos Arroyo, messing up the runs. Couldn’t even be at a park in the city w/o getting trash talked bc Larry Brown can’t manage talent. 😂😂

If the team isn’t mainly a all defensive team Larry brown can’t coach em. He had NO idea how to manage all that perennial talent, he was befuddled.

Coach K is winning a Gold medal with this roster. NbA championship ir not, Larry Brown didn't play this team right. Even though they were coming off their rookie years, LeBron, Melo, Wade, plus a second year Amar'e were still some of the best basketball players in the entire world. Forget their limited experience compared to the other guys on Team USA. These guys proved they were ready but couldn't get no clock. Not their fault, that a coaching issue

Sooo what you’re saying is that prime Duncan, AI, Richard Jefferson, Odom, Boozer, Marbury, Matrix aren’t good enough to win because of the coach. Could it be that the issue is with American NBA players’ difficulty adjusting to international play?
@raybrooks1717
@raybrooks1717 8 ай бұрын
@@atlanta1290 yeah that's what I'm saying. Coach K would have won with this team. No they didn't have a problem adjusting to international play, they are NBA players. You don't leave LeBron, Wade and Melo off the court if they are on your team. Try looking up what the guys who played on this team say about playing for Larry Brown.

Larry Brown definitely screwed that team up. He wasn't even playing the young boys like that. Amare didn't play, melo didn't play, LeBron didn't play! Every single one of those players on that team had career years the following NBA season, too. It was like they were playing to save face from that broze medal lol. Also, a bunch of players backed out of it or was hurt that were supposed to play. And they had richard jefferson, shawn marion, odom, boozer, and okafor on that team, good role players, but that's crazy. And didn't have one true shooter.

How the hell do u not play Lebron, Wade, & Melo just because of their ages?? It was a travesty watching Larry Brown practice ageism like that and it NEVEr shouldve continued. He shouldve been fired DURING the tournament. It was all Larry Brown’s fault and yet they blamed the players.

I remember 04 too let’s not have revisionist history. We didn’t send our best players because so many of them opted out. We (US Basketball Olympic committee) were arrogant to believe we could throw anyone out there and win. Just like Steph said after they lost, now all of a sudden everyone wants to play.
