Imo, the 💰 isn’t the issue, it’s the years. Klay secured $60M+ during the 2 years he was out w/ injuries. Then got $40M+ this past season. I don’t necessarily blame the warriors as they only have so much time with a late-prime Steph. - and thus far the Warriors have REALLY stepped up when it came to spending money to make that team contenders. Like they have spent a fuck ton on going over the salary cap. That said, if Draymond and Steph REALLY wanted to keep the band together, I’m a little disappointed they didn’t each at least offer to take a haircut to do right by Klay. I'm all for players getting every dime they deserve. However, Melo wanted both every dime he could get and a supporting cast. That doesn't work. His agent went to James Dolan to trade necessary assets to ensure he could enforce his Bird rights. Kudos, get your money. That didn't help the team, though, and was one of the reasons why Donnie Walsh left. Few scenarios and organizations can pay their talent top dollar and have a great supporting cast. Bob Meyers from Golden State was great at it. Once he saw where Golden State was going, he was out. That's the nature of the business. The players' union should negotiate a better salary/luxury tax.

I love hearing the thoughts from players but I don't like when one of the arguments is about paying for past production. Klay wants money of past production. The Warriors paid Klay max money on his last deal and Klay didn't play 2 full years of it. Thw Warrios paid almost 100 million for 0 games. Klay is the one who should sacrifice here. I hate saying that the millionaire should sacrifice for the billionaire. This is a cap thing and he doesn't deserve a specific percentage of the cap any longer. Klay is a good fit for a price but not for the price he wants. 2 years and 48 mill was a good offer.
