This video clip SHOULD BE AN ALL TIME WATERMARK MOMENT in American Basketball 🏀. Melo you a National Treasure and a real one. 💯
@greyklopstock71553 ай бұрын
It was a beautiful full circle moment. Melo was once that young kid riding the bench on team USA, and now he's in the floor seats, three gold medals later, Wade is in the booth with the mic on, and LeBron is somehow still dominating on the court. And I feel like that moment in some part needs to be attributed to Steve Kerr too, cause one thing Steve lrarned from his coaching mentors Phil Jackson and Gregg Poppovich: the greatest coaches know when to let the players run the show for themselves. Like the famous clip where Pop let Manu snatch the clipboard and draw up the final play in the timeout in crunch time, when you have an all time guy, and they are ready to take over, you gotta let them lead. Steve could've called time and said "nah, ignore the fans, ignore everyone, go do this." But one thing he needs to be given credit for is having the humility to know when it's time to let your players lead themselves when they rise to the occasion. It was so damn satisfying to see. It was like multiple generations of players, multiple generations of Americans all rising to the occasion and getting into the moment. Felt like a damn movie. Canadians were cheering for the Serbians, french people were foaming at the mouth for the serbs to kill the beast, and the Sith Lords balled out so hard in the gladiator arena that the audience had to at least relent and acknowledge that yeah, we're still pretty damn good at this shit

steve kerr is a great nba coach but could not adjust to the international teams style of play. Coach K would have had this team winning every game by 15+ points cant tell me otherwise. The talent gap is closer but USA still has superior basketball talent compared to rest of the world and games should not have been that close. Thanks Coach Melo!!

I understand now why he never won anything in the NBA. Imagine it's clutch time and the coach steve Kerr wants to run a play but his leaders are too busy talking to a guy in the crowd. That's disruptive, USA basketball just won on talent not by Melo's coaching. Last time I checked Melo didnt teach Curry how to shoot. But what is really sad it's going the next day on his podcast to claim a bit of glory like everybody needs to know he did something.

Carmelo is overrated as hell for the TEAM USA. He was just riding LeBron and KD and other star's coattails. They were doing all the work. And sure as hell would get all the blame (LeBron I mean, not KD). But damn does Melo believe in his own legend of being the "Olympic GOAT" and whatnot. LeBron especially is praising his buddy a lot and I think it starts with him. He really overrates Melo. Not just for international bball but overall. Melo didn't do much for these teams. He kinda played the 4 and was very vocal and TRIED to play good defense but was regularly undersized and got bullied by the Gasol brothers. He was chucking whatever he could. Just launching shots. Had the ultimate green light. Same as KD but KD did much more with it. Melo in 2012 finals 8 points, 3/9 shooting. Missed everything in the 4th quarter when Spain was closed (I believe 3 straight 3-pointers). Was benched. Team USA won the game on a late surge (Melo-less) Melo in 2008 finals 13 points on 5/11 shooting. He just shot every shot. Benched during the 4th quarter. Melo in 2016 Olympics. Just there for fun - everyone was praising him and my man just kept chucking. Nobody would say a word because "he is Melo... the legend of USA bball on his 4th straight Olympics". In the finals 7 points on 3/7 shooting. Now I know that for international BBALL obviously you cannot get 30 points every time. But my man was basically useless on the court, benched in crucial moments. He feasted on weak teams such as Nigeria and therefore got his flowers. Beating NIGERIA makes you the best? It's all LeBron's fault really, and secondly his guys Dwade/CP3 who also boost Melo confidence... and Melo is so arrogant that he would never deny these foolish accusations of being some sort of an amazing international bball player... he just plays along and enjoys the praise. It is time to reconsider Melo's place in all-time US teams - and I tell you what, it is not great.
