People been at Melo's neck lately for the Jokic shit but this proves why Melo will always tell real stories from his perspective. I know what he meant around the 14:00 mark when talking about Kobe going thru his personal troubles but hitting the game winner. And for that to happen AGAINST the team representing Colorado when his case was in Colorado is just a whole nother level of focus and drive. There's a couple things that I think Melo needs to address more, but there's one thing that ain't debatable. He genuinely had love for Kobe. That's a rare group of people in and of itself but I ain't gonna go there. Mamba Forever.

Dear Melo, Denver is wrong for giving yo number out bro bro. No top 75 players number should be worn period. Forever 1 of the best too do it plus swag on fleet. RIP Kobe Bean.
@anthonydeshields96132 ай бұрын
I mean, in all fairness, while he was amazing in Denver, he didn’t do anything great enough to warrant never having his number offered again. Look at Miami. Even when Wade left, they didn’t allow anyone to wear 3. That’s what winning a ring and being beloved get you - the opposite of the Denver/Melo situation. The way he left Denver, left a lot of people feeling raw. Similar to the VC move. Think about the Raptors. They didn’t take VC’s raptors jersey out of circulation. And he set a pretty high bar where no one should’ve had it, but hella people have worn it since then. None have touched his impact. If they decide to someday retire for him, they still can. The Denver situation just unique cuz it’s rare a player sets a really high bar and the person who takes it on is actually capable of surpassing it. The Orlando Magic is a great example. Two REALLY great players for the team wore 1. Penny hardaway and later TMAC. Yk who wears it now? Johnathan Issac. If injuries Don’t hit Penny and TMAC, the trajectories they were on that number would’ve absolutely be retired. Denver is a rare situation where the person who wore the number before set a crazy high bar, the guy that took it after demolished it with 2xMVP and the first chip in franchise history.
