I know what you mean by young and enthusiastic vs old and tired. I did a full engine conversion in my carport in 4 weeks about 10 years ago. Now I can hardly be bothered to change some suspension on one of my cars. I've got unfinished projects everywhere here...just ask my wife.

North of 5 grand is a bloody BARGAIN! Considering that a whole rusty yanked out of a paddock rusty cracked chassis rail A body Aussie Val will sell for 10k plus thats a STEAL! The awesome thing with Val's too is the sheer amount of aftermarket US Vendors make stuff that just bolts on, even small stuff like Headlight and wiper switches.
