i was raised on carnatic. i sometimes wish i can hear it again as first time to blast those myelinated pathways instead like my axons/dendrites that are used to this beautiful music. to be a westerner that hears this for first time in adulthood in a setting where they pay attention, their neurons must just reach out and hug each other in a way that makes their whole brain feel warm and fuzzy lol.

You are correct sir. The first time I heard this music it was in a movie when I was a kid. I felt very strange all over my body and didn’t understand what was happening. The only thing I knew is that I had just discovered something very special and unique and that I had to find more of it. It’s only years later that I felt something that could rival that feeling and it was my first sexual intercourse.

The same scales and music have been played for a thousand years or more, but artists the world over are taking notice in a big way only now thanks to media and the internet. :)

This is just one of the infinite possibility of kapi ragam. Which means every player has their own interpretation of kapi raga and can play in respect to what emotion they are in . There are infinite sangadhis and swara interpretation . Isn't that just wonderful? Carnatic music !!!
