Ooh! And vector was made here where I live. When I was a kid, vectors were hand built here in Wilmington, CA. The guy who built them would sometimes ask me if I wanted to go for a ride he would take me to the gas station and fill it up and back. I used to ride my bike by their shop. They were wicked looking cars and awesome to ride in!

There’s a F40 for sale 5 minutes from me, which sounds insane but I’m surrounded by such dealerships including Mclaren, Aston, Ferrari, AMG, RR/Bentley etc. (meanwhile I live in a shitty tiny apt). The dealership with the F40 is Miller Motorcars, a place I never tire driving or walking by!! -Great video btw, it’s nice that you provide the info at the bottom :)

Amazing selection of cars. It's crazy though, that modern hot hatchbacks are much faster 0-60 nowadays, and derestricted most will do over 200mph with a bit of tuning.

Today’s acceleration vs the 80s comes down to tire compounds. Today’s minivans come with better rubber than even the nicest cars back then.

@@TzadikTheManic it’s pretty insane. He told me last time he drove it he popped a hot water line at 200mph and was getting 180 degree water pumped onto his feet, couldn’t touch the brakes. The engine in those things is mounted sideways, and has like 150’ of chain or something crazy like that. The glass was from a fighter jet if I remember correctly. Pretty wild cars. Fairly advanced for their time. Like 7 computers giving you various diagnostic readings. Love the styling of them.

So the Porsche 959 top speed isn’t 211mph. It was the fastest car in the world when released at 199mph and was then beaten by the F40 which topped out at 201mph. The F40 was the first road car to achieve 200mph.

Nope... Ruf Porsche was the first to hit 201 mph. They tested that with a Testarossa Biturbo, the Ruf and an AMG. The Testarossa blew a turbo at 165 mph, the AMG reached 199 mph and for the first time 201 mph was done by the Ruf Porsche. Happened before the F40 was built.

Ruf is in the grey area as a very limited car manufacturer based on another car though. The 959 and the F40 was generally regarded as the two fastest serie produced cars by that time.

Yeah, Going in a straight line for a short distance. Then it hits the wall at about 125 and then these cars would waste it. Hell my old 1989 1.8L Sierra could get to 126mph and that was the bottom of the line no frills budget version of the Sierra line of cars and it had better handling. Americans build cars to go fast in a straight line for a few seconds. Everyone else build cars to go fast around corners, in a straight line and up hills for long periods of time. The GNX has good acceleration but my God is it a POS at handling and at top speeds.
