Just cruise on the Horizon September 15 and it’s an awesome ship. We booked the Grand Suite which also gives access to the Havana pool area and it was nice. It was like having your own private pool with friends. The most I counted were 12. The other pool was over crowded as we walked past it back to our Grand Suite. I am considering booking a Havana Suite such as the one you had for the 8 day Aruba cruise. Jim your videos on certain ships have help out a lot before I cruise. I always watch them and takes notes about the ships and things that interest me such as the location of certain venues. The Horizon did have a lot of people but not the long lines such as the summer months. I guess a lot of people are done vacationing and back in school. One again thank you for the information and happy cruising!!

Some of the people that do videos about cruise ships are given free cruises by the cruise lines in exchange for the publicity. Therefore, the person generally won't point out anything bad about the cruise ship or cruise line, since they don't want to offend the cruise line in hopes of getting more free cruises in the future. On the other hand, I've paid for 48 of the 49 cruises I've taken... so I'm free to point out any good or bad things I notice.

It's a pretty great suite! Just plan to either stay up late, or bring some earplugs... due to the proximity to the band that plays in the Havana lounge. We have also booked a cabin on the Panorama... for January of 2020. My wife and I had a long talk about whether we wanted to be back in a Havana Suite, or to switch to a corner balcony cabin on one of the higher floors overlooking the Havana pool. After much discussion, we decided that there were three things about the Havana suite that made it irresistible to us: 1. The super short walk from the Havana suite to the Havana pool, which is great if you're sitting at the pool and remember one thing you forgot to bring with you. You can literally zip down to you cabin and back in two minutes. 2. The swing on the patio. My wife totally loved that. 3. The fantastic large shower with the rainfall head. So, what I'm saying is we booked the Zim suite on the Panorama, too. In spite of a few negative quirks, I still think it's the best cabin on the ship!

Yeah we wondered about the noise but we do love latin music so... We debated the wraparound balcony rooms above but decided on the suite as the patio and bathroom look great! We're in 5234 on the first Dec cruise! Happy Cruising!

@@JimZim Jim, it has been awhile since I have been on Carnival and I had never heard of Vista Class until your video. That looks awesome. I suspect we will have some great deals cruising in the near future as so many will be afraid to go. I was supposed to be in Northern Europe on the Baltic cruise on Princess and they had given me a complementary upgrade to the Penthouse Suite....then canceled. Oh well....ha ha Hopefully my Transatlantic cruise on Viking Ocean is a go in October!

And I should mention that when we booked our cruise on the upcoming Carnival Panorama, we gave it a LOT of thought, considered ALL the possibilities and the pros and cons, and ending up booking this exact same type of suite once again. While there are a few negatives, they are outweighed by some huge positives.

Hi Michael The Mardi Gras will be an interesting ship to see! Carnival is still not revealing a lot of the details about it quite yet, but what I've read so far has sounded interesting. I don't have a Mardi Gras cruise booked at this time, but it's certainly a possibility later on down the road. I'm pretty sure I won't be one of the first people on it, though.

Norwegian Cruise Line has "The Haven" and MSC Cruises has "The Yacht Club". Carnival basically stole Norwegian's idea and modified it to fit the Carnival culture. But all the cruise lines steal each other's best ideas, so no shame on Carnival for recognizing a good idea when they saw one.

I book them for the simplicity of not having to rush out in the mornings to claim crowded pool side chairs. The limited access to the aft pool and bar is worth it for me. As of 2020, the access is now totally restricted to Havannah rooms only. Prior after 7pm anyone could come back and hangout.

It would be impractical, because the cost of a cruise ship cabin varies so much depending on what time of the year you cruise. The cost of any specific cabin is vastly different in January than it is in July, for example. And my videos are out there for years... what a cabin cost in 2020 has nothing to do what that cabin might cost for someone watching the video a few years from now. Really, the best way for someone to figure out what a specific cabin costs is to go to the web site of the cruise line and do a mock booking for that cabin. The best thing about that is that by fiddling around with various dates, you can see how the price of that cabin changes depending on when you cruise. So, for a higher priced cabin like the Havana suite you saw in this video, it's always wise to check out the price for various potential dates... and you will see that's it's possible to literally save thousands of dollars on the cabin just by cruising at a time of year when demand is lower and therefore prices are lower.

Jennie Spooner They go to a 220v socket that is hard to reach. Even if you decided it was worth the effort to crawl way under there to unplug the lamp and plug your device in instead, you would need a 220v to 110v to make it work for an American-style device.

I’m going to be honest, I think the Royal Caribbean deck cabins (even over the park/boardwalk) are bigger than that. They feel bigger and are perfect for my family. Just think royal Caribbean is the better cruise line.

Yes, you can put the third person on the convertible sofa. However, they won't allow anyone under the age of 12 in a Havana cabin... so if your third person is a kid, you won't be able to book a Havana cabin.

Oh, for sure, yes... but you have to consider the overall experience of being able to walk out your patio door and within seconds being at an un-crowded area with a pool, two hot tubs, and a bar. I've stayed in one of the Captain's Suites before... but in a choice between a Havana Suite and a Captain's Suite, it's an easy decision for me... I'll take the Havana suite just for the easy access to the pool, hot tubs, and bar. Really, the best value for the dollar is to just stay in a Havana Cabana rather than a Havana Suite. But for people that bring a teenager along with them, the Havana Suite is fantastic because of the extra bed and extra TV. And for affluent people, where the difference in price is irrelevant, the bigger bathroom on the Havana Suite makes all the difference.

I use a CPAP, too. It's more convenient when they have an outlet by the bed, but it shouldn't be a deal breaker. A $6 extension cord from Walmart solves the problem. I always pack one with my CPAP. But, if you do insist on a bedside outlet on a cruise ship, you should cruise with Viking Ocean Cruises. They have power outlets and USB charging ports on BOTH sides of the bed, on every one of their ships. Plus heated bathroom floors, too!

Yes! Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line have both been really good about putting electrical outlets by the beds on their new ships. That's why I was really surprised to see that Carnival had not done this with their new one. Anthem of the Seas is probably the best example I've seen where the cruise line really had a smart team of people designing their cabins. I noticed about four different little things that they had done on the cabins on Anthem Of The Seas to make them a little bit better. It is truly one of the greatest cruise ships in the world.

You're probably looking at the wrong cruise ships then. Think about a small ship, like Viking Ocean Cruises. They are not the least bit crowded. Take a look at kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3qnaqSimLt5sKc I'll be on one of their ships soon, so there will be a bunch of new videos coming about Viking, and the advantages it has over the other cruise lines. No crowds is the #1 advantage, but there are about 20 other things on their long list of advantages!

GM That's the whole reasoning of the Havana area, so no unruly rug rats are running around unsupervised like the rest of the ship while their parents are taking a vacation from parenting. The under 12 crowd is allowed in the area after 7:00 PM at night, when adults are enjoying happy hour right before dinner.
